Watch Will Ferrell totally lose his cool over Ryan Reynolds

Will Ferrell is one of SNL's most successful former-castmembers but before he was Buddy the Elf, Ron Burgundy and various other post-Studio 8H characters, he was a staple on the show for seven years. He's responsible for so many of the most classic skits and sketches—Spartan spirit! The Roxbury neck-jerking guys! Get off the shed! COWBELL!—and blessedly returned as host Saturday to join exclusive Five Timers Club. While the man may be a pro, his monologue got off to a shaky start.He had barely said hello and “New York in da house” (K, dad) before noticing a familiar and altogether dreamy face in the front row: sexiest Vancouverite, Deadpool mega-star, and full time husband to Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds.Will stuttered out a welcome, to which Ryan replied, “I’m a big fan.”Breathing heavily and fidgeting with his fingers, Will eked out, “A big fan of me? Oh. Okay... anyway, it’s great to be hack in New Blork!” Oh, Will...Honestly, how can anyone be expected to keep it together moments after finding out Ryan Reynolds a) knows who you are, b) is a fan of yours and c) is sitting right there beaming at you with those gorgeous brown eyes? Turns out it's not just Ryan who's a fan either. When Ryan mentioned the “we” in his life, Will asked, “You mean Blake Lively? And she likes me too?”“Probably more than me.”We would love to say that Will handled it with grace and humility, but instead he started giggling like a wee little school girl, punctuating his glee with a cutesy hop in place. Like his alter ego Ron Burgundy, he was in a glass cage of emotion. We feel you, Will.Luckily, he was saved from further humiliation with a surprise cameo by Tracy Morgan who brought out his very Tracy Morgan voice to basically Tracy-Morganize the rest of the monologue. But wait! There's more! Ryan made a second appearance during "Weekend Update" as a preppy dating guru, sitting next to co-anchor Colin Jost. Now, you may recall that Colin is engaged to one Scarlett Johansson, who was at one point married to the Canadian heartthrob. There wasn't any detectable awkwardness during the bit, but we kinda wish we could have seen the rehearsal.

The rest of the episode was just as exciting, with a Democratic debate sketch downright littered with celebrity cameos including Maya Rudolph as a meme-obsessed Kamala Harris, Larry David back Bernie Sanders, Woody Harrelson as the ever-gaffing Joe Biden, Rachel Dratch as Amy Klobuchar and Fred Armisen as Michael Bloomberg.
