When it comes to politics, sometimes it can feel like the government is run by children: they’re cranky, they name-call and they can’t take criticism. Well a whole bunch of kids had some thoughts on the American electoral process and spoke with Scandal star Kerry Washington when she was guest hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week. Washington spoke with future generations about everything from votes for women to their unfiltered opinions of the current POTUS.Speaking with kids in a sweet segment called "Kinder-cision 2020," the little ones had some amusing thoughts on voting and Donald Trump, and we kinda like their ideas, tbh. Cary thought that in order to vote in America, you had to go inside the White House and scream it—not exactly correct, but would probably be pretty therapeutic. Isa was almost positive she’s already voted and Peyton figured she was voting right now during the convo. Isn't just talking to Olivia Pope the way to handle an election in the U.S.?
When asked if they know anything about the current American President Donald Trump, the rugrats had a variety of opinions, from the well thought-out (“He's kind of handling things out of control because he wants people to go to school but a lot of people are getting sick”) to verging on conspiracy theory (“Alien.”).Seeing as it’s been 100 years since the United States added the 19th amendment to its constitution, which finally allowed women the right to vote, Kerry obviously had to talk to the kids about women in government and votes for women. When she told Cary that women were once not allowed to vote, he seemed confused.“Uh, women were not allowed on boats?"[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: Kerry Washington shares why 'American Son' is so important to her [/video_embed]But one of the best moments was Kerry telling one of the young Black girls about democratic VP candidate Kamala Harris and how she might be the country’s first Black Vice President in history.“The person running for Vice President is like us she's got a lot of Black Girl Magic—her name is Kamala Harris!”The look on young Isa's face is priceless, and she then followed it up by wielding her own brand of Black Girl Magic by making Kerry Washington disappear (not really but just go with it, she’s the cutest). Are we seeing a future Olivia Pope in the making? The rest of the show was also brimming with a full celebration of Black female excellence. Not only was it obviously hosted by the fabulous Kerry, but she also spoke with former Georgia gubernatorial candidate and current voting rights activist Stacey Abrams and Beyoncé-approved R&B duo Chloe X Halle. Abrams discussed the current political climate and the much-applauded speech Michelle Obama gave at the Democratic National Convention and Chloe X Halle capped off the night with a home-studio performance of "Do It" off their latest album, Ungodly Hour. [video_embed id='2016896']WATCH: Michelle Obama's full speech at the DNC [/video_embed]
