Watch James Corden and Emily Blunt electroshock each other for friendship

Real talk: going on The Late Late Show with James Corden is starting to get a bit dangerous. Why do celebs keep turning up? If they’re not being forced to eat bull penis or bird saliva during "Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts," they’re having rotten fruit and veg launched at their heads at a high velocity for "Flinch." Now he's graduated to straight up electroshock. Where does it end?

Wednesday night, James Corden’s old buddy Emily Blunt showed up to chat about her new film A Quiet Place 2, but seeing as how these two go way back (and love to bicker like siblings fighting over the last Smartie), James decided they would play a frankly sick and twisted game called "Shock Therapy Quiz." Yup, it’s exactly what it sounds like.

Both James and Emily had to answer questions about their friendship, and if one of them got an answer wrong, they got shocked via an electrically charged buzzer in their hands. With the help of Outlander actor Sam Heughan, the hand device of torture revv’d into action immediately.

What is James’ hometown? Ah, this is a trick question—y’all think it’s London but it’s not (spoiler: it’s High Wycombe). Emily blanked (as we all did) and her entire body flinched as she received a shock. What are the names of Emily’s kids? Ooh, James knows her daughter Hazel, but who's the other one?

“Think of a flower!” Sam hinted.

“Oh come on Sam! Shut up! ” Emily freaked. Dang, don’t mess with Emily. James ended up getting the right answer (Violet) but Emily panicked and he still got a shock, sending his chair zooming across the stage.

Lots of odd details about their wacky friendship were revealed. When they first met, they serenaded the entire room with a rendition of the classic love song, "Something Stupid’"(which could also describe all these hellscape games James keeps putting his guests through). And we learned that James’ middle name is—wait for it—Kimberly.

We’re just gonna let that new bit of info sink in.

When James Kimberly Corden tried to turn up the power on Emily’s buzzer, she cried out what we've all been thinking for years, “What if I died!?”

“It would be massive for the opening of the film,” he clapped back. Um, true... but also, yikes.

In truth, we loved watching these two old pals giggle and tease each other, because it showed the true depth of their friendship. There’s often so much drama on Hollywood productions that it’s nice to know every once in a while, you can come out of one with a sweet, lifelong friend. It’s *shocking* but it’s true.
