During lockdown and quarantine, many celebs have had to eschew their weekly stylist trips and resort to some rather unorthodox means of cutting and styling their hair. Some are getting their partners to cut their hair, like Blake Shelton did with Gwen Stefani, and others are roping in their unamused children, like Samantha Bee did with her pipsqueaks. Not George Clooney though. This man has a modern day solution, but it’s a 22-year-old solution he discovered off of the Home Shopping Network in the 90s. The old ways are the good ways, fam.

Yes, children, let George tell you the tale of the Flowbee – a coiffure device that, uh, sucks as it cuts. No this isn’t a scene from Wayne’s World, the Flowbee is an actual thing and George Clooney swears by it. “I’ve been doing it for years,” he said last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live! “I’ve had it for 22 years. I think my assistant got it originally off of television, and then it broke down. And then you couldn’t get them for a while!”

When Jimmy made a crack at George getting his assistant to buy his Flowbee, George quipped, “Well, I got her to Flowbee my hair for me. I don’t do it myself! By God, that’s cheap!”

Turns out, despite all his ribbing, Jimmy ordered a Flowbee too back in February right before the pandemic shut down because he wasn’t sure if he’d ever be able to get his hairstylist to cut his shaggy hair again. So naturally, Jimmy whipped out his Flowbee, and just happened to have an extra one for George and you can see where this is going….

As they suck-cut each of their scalps with the clippers and vacuum a-buzzing, Jimmy tried to ask a question over the noise but George hollered back, “Can’t hear you! I’m Flowbeeing!”

Whoever the makers are of this wondrous device, you just got a major bump from Hollywood’s biggest star. You’re welcome.

When etalk's Tyrone Edwards spoke to Clooney earlier this week about The Midnight Sky, he couldn't help but ask about the Flowbee — and a potential Casamigos crossover.

This all started at the end of November when Clooney revealed out of the blue in a CBS Sunday interview that he has been cutting his own hair for the majority of the time he's been famous. The truly surprising part isn't that George cuts his own hair (tbh, it's a pretty basic cut) it's that it hasn't come up AT ALL in the past 22 years.

While there was no mention of George using the Flowbee on his wife, international human rights barrister Amal Clooney, or their twin children, George did still provide some interesting at-home anecdotes about his family life. Apart from having to turn his office into a nursery due to the pandemic shut down, and wood-staining his home himself, according to him, his twins who are only three years-old, are fluent in Italian.

“I don’t speak Italian, my wife doesn’t speak Italian, so it’s really terrible; we’ve armed them with a secret language!” For some reason, George never reveals why the twins were taught Italian when neither he nor Amal speak it, but if we had to hazard a guess, it’s probably because they live part of the year in his Lake Como villa in Italy, and also the pair were married in Italy. Look, we’re just spitballing here.

As for Amal, George says he is the chef de partie in the household (putting butter in everything, as he tells it), because Amal is not one for the kitchen. “I’m the chef. My wife, she does amazing things, she gets journalists out of jail in Azerbaijan and Egypt. But when it comes to cooking, she makes reservations,” he laughed.

“She went to hard boil an egg once, and she put the egg in the pan and turned the stove on without any water in the pan.”

A woman after our own heart.

George also took the time to speak about his new movie The Midnight Sky, and you really should watch the eerie trailer, it is something else. Even Jimmy couldn’t help but notice the epic beard George rocks in the film. “You look like David Letterman,” Jimmy jabbed. To which George deadpanned, “David might take offence to that.”
