Now that we all know Katy Perry is having a baby with fiancé Orlando Bloom, we’ve been caught up in the exciting news. We’d love to see Uncle Lionel and Uncle Luke changing diapers and burping the little bundle of joy while Katy goes to work. (We're working on the
Two men and a Little Katy script as we speak). But there’s a new delivery from the stork in
American Idol land, and it’s from contestant Amber Fiedler, whom we first met during auditions when she was nine months pregnant. The twist to her story is, she made the loving and selfless decision to offer the baby the best life she could have by giving her up for adoption. Now during Hollywood Week, Amber is already postpartum, the baby is with her adoptive parents, and Amber is singing down the house with her emotional tribute to her little girl.
We’re not crying, YOU’RE CRYING.“Honestly,
I had her three weeks ago, and I feel good,” she explained as the judges (and the entire concert hall) gave her a round of applause.“It was such a beautiful moment when she came out and just seeing the adoptive mom hold her, it felt right, it felt good, it felt peaceful. I’m really happy about my decision,” she continued as images of her in the natal ward with her newborn flashed across the screen.[video_embed id='1921645']RELATED: These baby must-haves are celebrity-approved[/video_embed]Speaking to the camera, she explained that the adoptive family named the baby Nora Rose because of Amber’s red hair (aw man, right in the feels). “She’s going to bring a lot of light to a lot of people’s lives. She’s already brought a lot of light to my life,” she said before a few tears tumbled from her eyes and she needed a moment. “I have a really good feeling I’m going to help girls going through what I’m going through.”Back on that very stage, Amber sang a tribute to her little baby girl with a rendition of "Rise Up," by Andra Day, and her angelic voice brought the entire concert hall, including Katy Perry (who was
really feeling it), to quite literally "rise up" on their feet. “It’s all for her,” Amber explained through tears.Amber, you are quite possibly the bravest woman to ever walk the
American Idol stage, and we salute you.Watch
