Tuesday night’s elimination episode of The Voice (Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CTV2) managed to pull off the seemingly impossible and air a live TV show filmed across 21 different ‘stages. Host Carson Daly, coaches Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, John Legend, and Nick Jonas, along with the final 17 contestants, appeared on the latest episode, which aired in real-time and included four performances and live results. It was as close to a Voice results show as you could get, minus the set, band, hair, makeup, and about 50 other professions. Amazingly, it was still pretty great.Speaking to the coaches at the top of the show, Daly asked how this season has differed from others. “I’ve actually enjoyed it because I’m seeing these artists in their natural home, their natural environment which is where they go when they want to write a song or record it or work on music,” said Shelton. “I’ve been able to meet a lot more of my artist’s families because of the way that we’re doing it this year. I love it.” As for Clarkson, she's adjusting well to the new WFH model. “I drove a Can Am to work and I’m drinking,” she said.[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: John Legend’s daughter is ‘skeptical’ about his singing[/video_embed]For the first time, contestants were flanked by their family and friends while hearing the results, including Team Kelly’s Mandi Thomas, who was joined by Season 18 performer Jon Mullins. Is The Voice making new friendships? We like that. The contestants on each team with the most votes automatically made it through to next week’s Top 9, including Team Blake’s Todd Tilghman, Team Kelly’s Micah Iverson, Team Legend’s CammWess and Team Nick’s Thunderstorm Artis. The coaches then had the difficult task of choosing one of their remaining artists to save, which is brutal during a regular season, but while the contestant is standing with their family? That’s Brutal with a capital ‘B.’ Shelton saved Toneisha Harris, Clarkson saved Megan Danielle, Legend saved Zan Fiskum and Jonas saved Allegra Miles. The ninth and final spot was determined by a live vote after the remaining member of each team with the most votes got the chance to perform, which included Team Blake’s Joanna Serenko, Team Kelly’s Cedrice, Team Legend’s Mandi Castillo and Team Nick’s Michael Williams. Team Blake’s Joanne Serenko won the live vote and earned the ninth and final spot in next week’s playoffs.

JOANNA SERENKO – TEAM BLAKE

Team Blake’s Joanna Serenko kicked off the performance portion of Tuesday night with a soothing rendition of “Don’t Let Me Be Lonely.” Equal parts Norah Jones, Joss Stone, Amy Winehouse and Corinne Bailey Rae, Joanna’s soothing melodic tone is a like a soft hug, and we'll take the virtual version. Describing Joanna’s voice as smooth and warm, Shelton also touched on her incredible accuracy, an appropriate descriptor for an artist who has been consistent since her Blind Audition.

MANDI CASTILLO – TEAM LEGEND

The ninth spot was a coin flip between Joanna Serenko and Mandi Castillo, two singers whose styles could not be further apart but who both ooze talent. Most of Mandi’s performance of “True Colours” felt as though she was rushing, but that may have been in an effort to ensure she had the chance to show off all the sides of her voice one last time. Soaring high notes, intimate moments, and yet another example of owning a song like no other artist, Castillo capped off this season with a strong final performance.

CEDRICE – KELLY CLARKSON

Cedrice still managed to get the coaches dancing but unfortunately had her weakest performance of the season while performing Ariana Grande’s “Breathin'.” The track that didn’t give enough room for the talented singer to show the fullness in her voice, but one totally fine cover isn’t going to be the end of the road for the talented performer. Like her (third) coach Kelly Clarkson admitted, it’s may be cheesy to say out loud, but Cedrice is truly a star.

MICHAEL WILLIAMS – NICK JONAS

Nick brought back his Nick Notes back for Michael’s final performance, reusing his previous notes for the teen singer, including ‘wow’ and ‘star.’ We’re glad he wrote that down. Michael’s performance was close to a wow and star moment, but the singer seemed to hold back on Tuesday night, possibly opting for a safer, less challenging performance after swinging for the fences with Harry Styles' “Sign of the Times” on Monday.Watch The Voice every Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on CTV2.[video_embed id='1951037']BEFORE YOU GO: Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande team up for new tracke[/video_embed]
