The Islanders are booting their own from 'Love Island' and it's not going to be pretty

Love Island (Monday-Sunday, 9pm on CTV) returned on Sunday night and added extra whipped cream to the drama in the villa. A challenge of "Kiss, Marry, Pie" resulted in some hurt feelings (and most likely a lot of break outs–don’t put sugar on your face, people) and a night in the Hideaway became very educational for one couple. Plus, the arrival of host Arielle spelled major trouble. Majorly hot trouble.Sunday’s episode ended with Arielle revealing the results of Friday’s vote in which American and Canadian viewers had their say on who was most compatible in the villa. Justine and Caleb, Moira and Calvin, and Johnny and Cely were all voted safe, leaving Carrington and Kierstan, Lauren and Tre, and Mackenzie and Connor vulnerable to elimination. Mackenzie once again has been betrayed by her country.

HIDEAWAY UNIVERSITY

After Mackenzie gave Moira the side-eye of death for suggesting everyone vote on who should get the Hideaway, Carrington and Kierstan were given a shot at the private room. Carrington graciously stepped aside since it would be super skeezy to sleep with Kierstan and break up with her the next day, leaving Mackenzie and Connor free to spend their night without roommates. While most schools are going virtual this fall, Mackenzie gave Connor a very hands-on learning experience. The next morning, Mackenzie regaled the women with stories of how she earned tenure at Love Island University and put her man on blast by telling her friends and millions of viewers at home, “There’s a lot of things that he has not done. Like, a lot.” One of those things is use a bidet, an experience Connor could not wait to tell the other guys about. Is there anything more 2020 than someone falling in love with an appliance that doesn’t require toilet paper? It was a good thing that Mackenzie and Connor got their night in the Hideaway, because the couple may have to bidet adieu to the villa after Monday night’s vote.

RIDE A HORSE, DITCH THE COWBOY

Carrington may have said no to the Hideaway, but he said yes to the bathroom. Kierstan made a final last-ditch effort to get Carrington on board with their relationship by initiating a steamy shower session, but Carrington had already decided their love languages are too different. Specifically, he speaks Lauren. This is great news for Tre, who likes Kierstan, and Lauren, who likes Carrington. Tre did his best to work the recoupling behind the scenes, letting Lauren in on his plan but pleading the fifth when it came to admitting that he liked Kierstan. Yes, because this is a show where coyness and subtlety are rewarded…

JUSTINE READS CALEB

Justine isn’t sure how to read Caleb, so she finally asks him for his Coles Notes because she does not have time to get through all the reading assignments before the exam. Caleb’s response seems to be that he’s into her, but it’s still kinda unclear. We typically don’t recommend cheating, but Justine is definitely going to have to read off someone else’s paper to pass the Exam of Caleb.[video_embed id='2028913']ICYMI: A sexy car wash challenge proves disastrous for these Islanders [/video_embed]

THE BOYS GET A SWEET REVENGE

After spending several episodes essentially gaslighting and manipulating Connor (in the name of love?) Mackenzie was surprised when the "Kiss, Marry, Pie" game resulted in two of the guys taking great pleasure in pieing her in the face. More specifically, Calvin and Johnny. In her confessional, Mack said that the thing that hurt most was that the guys made some shady declarations beforehand. "The girl I would like to pie, because of the emotional rollercoaster that she put my boy Connor on, is Mackenzie," Calvin told the group. Johnny simply stated before throwing his pie that he would "enjoy it very much." Afterwards, Calvin tried to explain to Mackenzie that it was in solidarity with his boy Connor and somehow the conversation ended in Mackenzie hitting him with a very sarcastic-but-maybe-playful-but-mostly-sarcastic, "Be better." Yikes.

THOUGHTS AFTER SUNDAY’S EPISODE

  • How long will it take to get the experience of Connor saying “Fionne” out of our heads?
  • What was up with Caleb kissing Mackenzie?
  • What was up with Calvin kissing Kierstan?
  • Can Islanders describe themselves as "shy" if they’re on Love Island?
  • If we follow a YouTube tutorial, can we install our own bidet?
