The cast of the next ‘Amazing Race’ includes some famous faces

The next installment of the adventure-meets-travel-meets-complete-chaos reality TV competition The Amazing Race will feature some familiar faces in its cast of competitors. Among them are DeAngelo Williams and Gary Barnidge, former NFL teammates who both used to play for the Carolina Panthers as the organization’s running back and tight end. Do athletes have an edge when it comes to this million-dollar-prize competition? One thing is for certain, Williams’ league-leading touchdown record will be put to the test. As will the Olympic-level skills of hurdlers Kellie Wells-Brinkley and LaVonne Idlette. Will they clear travel hurdles as gracefully as they leap over them on the track? We’re guessing no — which is what makes the show so much fun.And that isn’t where this season’s sporting world connections end, either. Riley and Madison McKibbin, pro-volleyball players and brothers, will also be bringing their athleticism to the Race. This season of The Amazing Race will be the franchise’s 32nd in which 11 teams of two fight to get to the finish line first, crossing borders and time zones after solving clues and winning challenges.With COVID putting a hard stop to most international travel, watching this season’s selection of Racers trot (at an elevated pace) across the globe will go a long way to satiate our wanderlust (while reminding us what a nightmare a missed flight can be). The season was filmed well ahead of the pandemic lockdown when borders were still open and direct flights were still a common thing. “Coming back for the 32nd time on The Amazing Race, I feel we are in a privileged position to show what is right in the world, and to show what’s good in the world,” said series host Phil Keoghan in the latest video promo. “There’s never been a more important time.”

The new season will be premiering on CTV this October 14 and will introduce fans to a whole new cast of IRL characters to root for (or not — because what’s the fun of reality TV without a villain or two?). This season’s travel obstacle course will take competitors from LA’s Hollywood Bowl across the ocean to France, Germany, Kazakhstan, and Brazil.
