Rainstorms are nothing new to the doctors of the Seattle-based Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, but Thursday’s episode of Grey's Anatomy saw a dip in temperatures that caused a snowstorm to wreak havoc on the lives of the doctors and patients. Relationships were put on ice, patients froze out their doctors and an update in the ongoing disappearance of Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) took a chilling turn. Was that enough cold weather puns? Cool, man.

Tom and Teddy 4Ever

Although none of the doctors on Grey’s seem to understand birth control, one of them understands math. Teddy (Kim Raver) has counted all her fingers and toes and has finally realized there is a good chance that Owen (Kevin McKidd) is the father of Amelia’s (Caterina Scorsone) baby. Maggie’s (Kelly McCreary) nod and Link’s (Chris Carmac) disheveled appearance puts an exclamation mark on her biggest fear. In response, Teddy finally answers our prayers and goes back to Tom (Greg Germann). Their reunion is under terrible circumstances and will likely end once a guilt-ridden Teddy runs back to Owen, but like Tom, we’re just going to enjoy the moment while it lasts.

Andrew’s mania heats up

Cormac (Richard Flood) and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) were fighting to keep a little girl alive while the liver she desperately needed was snowed in only three miles away. Andrew (Giacomo Gianniotti) volunteered to walk to the other hospital since he grew up in Wisconsin and can handle snow. (That might be a lie, because anyone who grew up in Wisconsin would know that the number one rule of going out in the snow is wearing gloves.) Andrew returned with the liver and Cormac and Meredith were able to save the patient, but extreme frostbite could mean Andrew is going to lose his hands. So yeah, Carina (Stefania Spamspinato) was right about her brother being manic.

The long surgery gave Cormac and Meredith a chance to discuss the realities of being a young widow/widower, but even more exciting, Cormac finally realized that the Twisted Sister he heard Dr. Yang talk about is Meredith. No more weird secrets around whether Meredith and Cristina know one another. The Meredith/Cormac shipping continues.

Miranda’s new baby & Richard's new resident

Miranda (Chandra Wilson) is a mom once again, but this time it’s to 18-year-old foster child Joey. If only we could have predicted this. Wait, we did! Levi (Jake Borelli) was at risk of going back to his old Glasses moniker when he made the total Glasses move of losing his patient, Tess (hey there, Golden Globe-nominee Beanie Feldstein!). He eventually found Tess seconds before she cut into a patient, having fled her hospital bed to pose as an intern. We get that Richard (James Pickens Jr.) has been going through a depression and may not recognize every new student, but shouldn’t some of the other interns have pointed out that there was an imposter in their midst? Helm (Jaicy Elliot), you let a complete stranger take your surgery! Come on! Also, the security in this hospital is abysmal.

Following the terrifying reality that he almost let a patient cut another patient open, Richard’s heart rate returned to normal and he was able to encourage Tess, who had to drop out of medical school when her cancer returned for the fourth time, to continue pursuing her dream of being a surgeon. Richard even let Tess in on the secret that a shaky hand means his career is over. Oh Webber, we’re not ready to say goodbye.

M.I.ALEX.

Alex Karev update: Jo (Camila Luddington) called Alex’s mom and found out that not only is he not in Iowa, he never went home. Jo thinks Alex has left her. Alex probably has left her. But is there a chance that Grey’s Anatomy could be pulling another 007 and sending Alex Karev out the George O’Malley way. Maybe Alex was in an accident en route to Iowa and is currently laying unrecognizable in a hospital? We know the character is gone one way or another and this way would preserve his legacy as a reformed bad boy.Watch new episodes of Grey’s Anatomy every Thursday at 9 pET on CTV and catch up online anytime at CTV.ca.
