Broadway may be shut down for the foreseeable future but that doesn't mean we can't celebrate the excellence that graced the stage in 2019 and early 2020. The 74th Tony Awards are going ahead with the Tony-winning Genie, er, we mean James Monroe Iglehart, announcing this year's nominations via livestream Oct. 15 at 12pm ET.The host, date and time of the awards show itself is yet to be announced but we do know they will be run digitally this coming fall/winter. With the Broadway season shortened, premieres for several productions were cancelled, making the slate of eligible shows smaller than usual. There are still some biggies up there though with musicals like Tina - The Tina Turner Musical, Jagged Little Pill, Moulin Rouge! The Musical, and The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical and plays like My Name is Lucy Barton (starring Laura Linney), Sea Wall/A Life (starring Jake Gyllenhaal), A Soldier's Play, A Christmas Carol revival and The Inheritance making the cut.
