Season 18 will mark Jonas’ first time as a coach on The Voice, but the singer got a sneak peek of what it will be like to share his knowledge with aspiring musicians earlier this year when he appeared on NBC’s Songland, a new reality show that gives amateur songwriters the chance to perform their song in front of a group of award-winning songwriters and a guest-musician. NBC made the news of Jonas joining The Voice official after DeGeneres shared the clip on her Twitter page, with the company releasing a statement. "As a member of one of the hottest pop groups, Nick's success in navigating all aspects of the music industry is exceptional," said Meredith Ahr, President, Alternative and Reality Group, NBC Entertainment. "We were so impressed by his innate musicality, technical aptitude and passion that he brought to Songland earlier this year and know he will be an incredible fit as a coach on The Voice. We are excited to see Nick lend his mentorship, relatability and breadth of knowledge to a new crop of artists."Nick will be able to get some pointers from older brother Joe Jonas, who became a coach on the Australian version of The Voice in 2018. Nick also made a brief appearance on the US version of The Voice during the show’s eighth season, acting as the guest mentor for Christina Aguilera’s team. The popstar has been busy touring with the recently reunited Jonas Brothers, who released their fifth studio album Happiness Begins in June and are planning to drop their joint memoir Blood in November. Nick also stars in the upcoming war drama Midway that will hit theatres on November 8 and has reprised his role in Jumanji: The Next Level, which will be released December 13. But he still has time to put The Voice coaches on notice that he’s coming for them.I got @NickJonas’ big news right here. pic.twitter.com/3zQBqrVOBi
