Recreational travel may still be off the books, but that doesn’t mean fans can’t live vicariously through other people’s globe-trotting adventures when the 32
nd season of
The Amazing Race makes its big debut on October 14 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CTV.This year’s edition, which filmed in full last year before the coronavirus pandemic hit, kicks off at the iconic Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles before traversing Trinidad and Tobago, France, Germany, Kazakhstan, Brazil and more. So who are the 11 lucky teams taking the trip of a lifetime while also vying to win a $1 million grand prize? Read on to learn more about this year’s competitors.
DeAngelo Williams (36) + Gary Barnidge (34)

Relationship: Former NFL stars.
Fun fact: After retiring from football, Gary now runs a non-profit, AFWB (American Football Without Barriers), which puts on free football camps overseas. DeAngelo is a ‘badass’ parent to his four kids.
Famous last words: According to Gary, things could get competitive this year. “[I want to] get that adrenaline going again because when you are retired you don’t get that competitive environment again, so this allows us to achieve that environment in a race around the world,” he says.
Eswar (24) and Aparna Dhinakaran (26)

The Amazing Race. Aparna will never forget when, in season 10, the racers went to their hometown of Chennai, India. In that moment she told her dad that one day she would be on the show.

Jerry (61) and Frank (25) Eaves

Famous last words: “From running this race I hope to strengthen an already tight bond with my father, as well as show him he has raised a great and capable young man,” says Frank. “He is the best father I could have ever asked for and I want to give back by showing him his work did not happen in vain or go unnoticed.”
Kaylynn (30) and Haley (31) Williams

Fun fact: These racers aren’t just sisters, but they’re also both realtors hoping to grow their businesses in the near future.
Famous last words: “The main thing I’d like to accomplish by running the race with Kaylynn is to find out what we’re made of,” says Haley. “We’re best friends who are attached at the hip and do everything together but what could be cooler than running around the world together, challenging ourselves, and experiencing the world in a way that normal people don’t get to.”
Chee Lee (38) and Hung Nguyen (39)

Fun fact: If there’s an eating challenge, the other racers had better watch out. Chee once devoured five pounds of pizza in an hour to win a pizza-eating challenge.
Famous last words: “My husband and I never went on a honeymoon. This is the ultimate honeymoon!” reveals Hung. Sounds like this vacation is long overdue.
Kellie Wells-Brinkley (37) and LaVonne Idlette (34)

I’ve found something that combines the two things that I love in a really unconventional way.”
