It's official: Letterkenny is getting its first spin-off. Shoresy is a new six-episode, half-hour hockey comedy, starring, of course, the fan-favourite, foul-mouthed character, who joins a senior AAA hockey team in Northern Ontario in the hopes of never losing again.
Created and written by Letterkenny's Jared Keeso, who stars as the titular bawdy bud, the series will be executive produced and directed by Jacob Tierney. Shoresy's face has been purposely obscured during his run on Letterkenny, so we'll have to see if we finally get a glimpse at his mug when the new show hits Crave in 2022.
If you can't wait to get your fill, you're in luck: the new season of Letterkenny hits the streaming service on Christmas Day. Just make sure you pump the brakes and brush up on your lingo in the meantime.
And you won't be alone. The series has plenty of famous fans from Brad Pitt to Edward Norton. The former revealed his love on the Oscars red carpet to former Etalk anchor Ben Mulroney in 2020, telling him he felt "pretty darn good" about his nominations that year, but quickly added, "I feel better about your show Letterkenny."
Around the same time, Norton tweeted about his love for the long-running show that follows a group of friends in a rural Ontario town, loosely based on Keeso's hometown of Listowel, Ontario.
"FWIW: ‘Letterkenny’ has been my best mood elevation lately. the funniest damn show I’ve seen since original UK ‘Office’. It’s that order of brilliant. @jaredkeeso writing, vocal genius & physical comedy is Simpson’s / Peter Sellers / Charlie Chaplin level great. Whole cast A++."
Guest stars in Shoresy's first season will include a lot of familiar Canadian faces, like Scott Thompson, Laurence Leboeuf, Jonathan Torrens, Kim Cloutier, social media star Lysandre Nadeau and more.
The show is currently being filmed in Sudbury, Ontario and the puck drops Spring 2022 on Crave.
