Last week when Lady Gaga left Jimmy Fallon high and dry on his at-home show, she left us with some major secondhand embarrassment and a deep feeling of cringe. She seemed distracted and apologetic, but OH BOY if that wasn't some of the most awkward TV to grace our screens since John Travolta said "Adele Dazeem."The "Stupid Love" songstress had promised a big announcement
on his show, but during her brief appearance, her phone kept ringing off the hook so she bailed in favour of appearing on Jimmy's show Monday night. And let us tell you, it was worth the wait.In the span of those few days, she
delayed the release of her new album
Chromatica (bummer), and made the huge announcement that she's been putting together a big "
One World: Together At Home" COVID-19 global benefit concert in conjunction with the WHO that will feature huge stars like Paul McCartney, Lizzo, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Alanis Morrisette, Billie Eillish, Eddie Vedder, Stevie Wonder, Elton John and many more.
Finally, Mama Monster returned to Jimmy Fallon, direct from her quarantine in the Haus of Gaga, to smooth things over from last week and talk a bit more about the "One World" show. Plus she came bossed up and prepared. Dressed smartly in a tweed jacket, a black turtleneck, black rimmed glasses and her hair pulled into a neat bun, she put on her best *ahem* Poker Face and asked, “Would you like to know who's hosting?”“Yeah, I would love to know who's hosting,” Jimmy said.“You,” she laughed. “I got Jimmy Fallon. And guess who else I got? Kimmel and Colbert!”Wow, it’s a trifecta of late night kings (no shade to Seth Meyers or James Corden). Naturally, because hosting duties will be split between the three, Gaga had to make an appearance on all three shows. On the same night! See, this is a clear benefit to doing at-home shows.
On Colbert, her announcement brought out his true snark side. “We are honoured to be up there with you,” he proclaimed on behalf of him and the two Jimmies. “Just like Bradley Cooper in
A Star Is Born, we’ll be standing next to you peeing our pants on live TV.”“No, you can’t do that,” Gaga ordered.[video_embed id='1932827']RELATED: Jimmy Fallon’s interview with Lady Gaga did not go well[/video_embed]
On Kimmel, she talked very frankly about all the work and coordination with major tech companies and broadcast media it took to make this TV special a reality. “I'm making a lot of phone calls,” she explained via video chat, “helping to fund raise with the WHO and Global Citizen and we're really excited about this show because we didn't want it to be a fundraiser. We want everyone to put their wallets away and sit back and enjoy the show. We already have raised $35 million for this solidarity response fund.”Dang, Gaga! $35 million dollars raised in a week and we don’t have to do anything but watch? That’s some serious coinage. Colour us impressed. But the one detail she made sure to speak about on all three shows was probably the most show-stopping and all-important of all—our friends from
Sesame Street will be on the show!“That’s fantastic—a Muppet can be used as a face mask in an emergency,” Colbert joked (we think). Now we know that donations aren't the main goal of "One World," but we will donate our last dime just to hear Bert and Ernie sing "Rubber Ducky" again. That track slaps.[video_embed id='6145786873001']BEFORE YOU GO: Lady Gaga sends a special message at the iHeart Living Room Concert[/video_embed]
