Eugene Levy had some crazy hair back in the ‘70s, and nobody wants to talk about it more than his son, Dan Levy. This fact came to light as the affable
Schitt’s Creek stars took over hosting duties on
The Ellen Show (weekdays at 3pm on CTV) this week, with the younger Levy gleefully asking co-star (and
Ellen guest) Catherine O’Hara to detail his father’s former retro fashion “in extreme detail”.“Was he wearing a mustache? What was going on aesthetically at the time? Because there have been
some looks,” Dan pressed. Catherine replied with a knowing laugh, acknowledging that Eugene had “a giant Afro and mustache” when they first met in 1972. She went on to describe “a lovely Roman look” that followed, which apparently involved his thick, dark hair being brushed forward. “I called it kind of a ‘60s Sinatra look,” Eugene defended himself, looking more amused than offended. Dan gasped in mock horror and awe, saying, “That sounds really intense.” (There were photos. It WAS intense.)
The heavily-browed duo were in fine form, clearly enjoying each other’s company as they smoothly traded lines—something they have years' worth of experience now with
Schitt's Creek in its sixth and final season. While the older Levy seemed pleased to see Dan thriving as host, Dan looked equally proud of his father, who comfortably quipped with the audience as the show went along. Dan quickly jumped on his father for any awkward moments or dad jokes, but always with a clear affection that was quickly returned. How sweet is their father-son bond? Families support one another and lifting each other up—you love to see it.[video_embed id='1704571']RELATED: Drake, Eugene Levy and others sing most Canadian national anthem ever in Game 5[/video_embed]In addition to chatting with O’Hara and the fourth member of their
Schitt’s Creek fam, Annie Murphy (who, sadly, didn’t perform “
A Little Bit Alexis” on the show), the Levy gentlemen participated in many of Ellen’s regular bits: games, gags and audience participation. Naturally, Annie Murphy was pranked before her segment (on her first talk show appearance, no less!) and the group played a hilarious game of “Say Whaaat” (essentially “broken telephone”).During the monologue, Eugene and Dan gave life advice to Twitter users who had responded to a Twitter call-out by Ellen herself.
If the family that laughs together stays together, these guys are going to be alright.[video_embed id='1774971']RELATED: Eugene Levy surprised Marilyn to congratulate her on her 10th season[/video_embed]
