After five nights of Blind Auditions, the coaches finalized their teams on Monday night for Season 19 of The Voice (Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CTV2). In what has been a talent-packed audition round, each coach has walked away with a diverse team that has a little something from every genre. Mostly. Team Blake is still pretty country. There haven’t been many four-chair turns the season on The Voice, but on Monday night, one country-singing trio was literally worth the wait for coaches Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Gwen Stefani. With only a few spots left on each team, the coaches were being pickier than ever and that meant contestants need to stand out from the crowd. Or in the case of Monday night’s episode, form a crowd themselves. It still seems odd to have duos and trios allowed on the singularly titled The Voice, but the country loving family featured on Monday’s episode had harmonies that were just too pretty to pass up.Monday’s final night of Blind Auditions not only included the coaches completing their teams, but also unlikely foes Kelly and John sparring over one contestant. It was very jarring to see Kelly fight with someone other than Blake this season. Nothing is the same in 2020.

The mom and daughter group Worth The Wait had one of the fastest four chair turns in The Voice history, with Gwen leading the charge and followed only seconds later by the rest of the coaches. Two-time number one country hitmaker Gwen Stefani was not in the mood to play nice on Monday and made it very clear that she was not going to take a backseat to her new fiancé.“He’s been on the show 19 seasons,” said Gwen. “He is so burnt out.” Gwen pulled out all the stops for Worth the Wait and showed just how much support she has from country artists, most notably country superstar Trace Adkins, who probably just took himself out of the running to be Blake’s best man. Adkins appeared via video to throw his support behind Gwen, arguing that people only get so much good luck in their life and Blake has used all his to score Stefani as his partner. As for Blake, he told the trio that it would be an honor to be their coach, while Kelly said that she would push the family group to continually get better each week. John may not have any country superstars in his corner, but he does have years of experience as a choir director and the leader of an a cappella group. Plus, an EGOT. He really doesn’t mention it much because he is #humble, but we would work that into every single sentence if we were John Legend. We would have no friends left, but everyone would know we won an EGOT.Team Blake

JULIA COOPER

Julie Cooper took Maggie Roger’s single “Alaska” and kept all the beautiful nuances of the original while adding a bit of her own soul and sexiness to the performance. In what should have been a four-chair turn, Julia quickly found herself being fought over by Gwen, John and Kelly. Emphasis on the "fight." Gwen tried to connect with Julia through their style, while Kelly and John dropped their stylish, Covid-friendly gloves to battle for their team.John liked that Julia could move between her head and chest voice with no effort and called her a revelation. Kelly said that Julia was powerful in a poetic way. Clarkson then quickly pivoted away from Julia and directed her comments towards Team Legend, alleging that John already had a singer on his team that sounded just like Julia. Much to the delight of Blake, things got heated between John and Kelly and in the end, it was John who came out victorious.Team Legend

LAIN ROY

Lain Roy has one of the strongest and most original voices this season, wowing the coaches with his performance of Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved.” His pitch perfect showing earned him chair turns from John and Gwen. John flexed his musical muscles by showing off that he had recently spoken at Roy’s alma mater, the prestigious Berklee College of Music. According to Blake, that was after John invented music but before he wrote the National Anthem. Meanwhile, Gwen-who-plays-in-a-garage-Stefani kept her pitch straightforward, telling Lain she loved his voice and wanted to help with his style and stage presence. Even though John is Lain’s music idol and the person who decided to put black and white keys on a piano, Lain shocked everyone and picked Gwen. Yeah garage rock!Team Gwen

EMMA LEE

Emma Lee’s original take on Whitney Houston’s “How Will I Know” was stunning in its originality and delivery. Cover queen Kelly Clarkson loved Emma’s take on the classic track and applauded her lack of vibrato and "air for days." John complimented Emma Lee on her crystal clear tone, which encouraged him to hit his button early in the performance. “When I hear that tone in someone, I don’t need to wait for the second verse,” said John, who added that he’s been trying for several seasons to get one of his team members to cover “How Will I Know” with no success. It looks like this will be another strike out for Team Legend, with Emma Lee picking Clarkson. Falling in love is so bittersweet, John.Team Kelly

JAMES PYLE

Drummer-turned-singer James Pyle has only sung in public three times in his life, but that’s apparently enough times on stage to earn the singer the final spot on Team Legend. Kelly and Gwen both voiced their dismay over not being able to turn for James, who likely would have been a four-chair turn if he had performed earlier in the audition process. Gwen called him one of the best singers they’ve heard all season and John just enjoyed his moment of not having to fight for a contestant. As for James, he was very happy that he didn’t know John was his only hope before stepping on stage. “I would have been so much more nervous than I was,” said James. No kidding.Team Legend
