Kim Kardashian is denying a report that she caught COVID-19 from her infamous 40th birthday bash in Tahiti last October. The denial comes on the heels of the latest episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, where it was shockingly revealed that last autumn Kimberly caught COVID-19, shutting down KUWTK production while she isolated with her kids for 14 days.

Admitting that she failed the baby bar, a test she needs to pass in order to keep studying law as an apprentice before taking the actual bar, we see in the episode Kim decide to batten down the hatches and commit to 12-hour study days in order to pass her second baby bar attempt. Trouble is, Kim reveals her son Saint contracted the novel coronavirus at school, and when both Kim and daughter North start feeling ill, everything is thrown into flux.

That’s the narrative that Kim and KUWTK are going with, but an in-depth investigation over at Buzzfeed News takes aim at that explanation, reasoning through deduction and available facts that Kim most likely contracted the virus whilst on her controversial 40th birthday bash to Tahiti which was widely criticized on social media for being dangerous, flouting medical advice, and an example of rich privilege.

After the report was published, Kim directly responded to the report on her official Twitter account, outright denying the report’s findings.

“False. Nobody caught Covid from the trip. Saint was the first to have it in our family and he caught it from school from another student who tested positive first,” Kim tweeted. “I then developed symptoms and got it a few days after he coughed on me while caring for him.”

Kim doesn’t respond, however, to the many deductions in the report; namely that while Kim’s reps refused to confirm the date of her diagnosis, she most likely tested positive on or around Saturday, November  7, 2020 — roughly 10 days after returning home from her private island birthday party. She also offers no explanation why she kept her diagnosis private until now; something that is out of character for the SKIMS mogul, who has openly shared her fertility, psoriasis, and other medical issues in KUTWK episodes. Buzzfeed posits that she likely kept this quiet because of the already furious backlash to her birthday trip and secrecy was a preemptive strike against further criticism.

When Kim posted pictures of her 40th birthday Tahiti trip, she made sure to note that everyone invited had quarantined and also had tested negative for the novel coronavirus, and she also added, “I am humbly reminded of how privileged my life is,” but that didn’t satisfy many fans and critics alike who said her trip was dangerous, and an example of how the rich will always find a way to be exempt from the laws to which the rest of us are subject.

The Buzzfeed News report also noted that its research took into account Kim’s tactic to delay posting about her live locations since her Paris robbery attack, which puts her trip sometime in late October, while she only posted about it on social media after she returned to the USA.

In the latest episode of KUWTK, Kim describes her symptoms as severe aches, tiredness, and a fever of 104 degrees Fahrenheit (which is 40 degrees Celsius), but she still writes her second attempt at the baby bar test. We shall have to wait until the next episode to find out if she actually passed. But despite the controversy, kudos to Kimberly for writing an exam when sick with a serious virus!
