Bethenny Frankel, the queen of telling it like it is, will be returning to our TV screens. She might not be part of The Real Housewives of New York City anymore but she’s back on her own terms with The Big Shot with Bethenny (stream now on Crave).

Of course, Bethenny’s return TV has to be epic and she’s established that she’s the boss. The reality TV personality is looking for her second-in-command to help her run her empire but that person has to have what it takes to be her right-hand person.

Bethenny told Etalk’s Traci Melchor all about embracing that boss title and why your gender shouldn’t affect the way you see your job title.

“I’ve never really thought of myself as anything but a strong, business person. I don’t think of myself as a woman. I don’t think about what men are doing. I’ve always just innately known that the cream rises to the top, that you create value, that you work hard, that you are driven, passionate and determined. It’s very contagious. People around you know when you mean business, no matter what gender you are," she said.

Bethenny is looking for a vice president of operations through her new TV series and she said she decided to hire this way because she wanted to create authentic content for her TV production company, B Real Productions.

“What happened was I decided to hire a second-in-command and then created the show around the concept. I definitely needed to hire the person -- it’s based in absolute reality. The brand, the 26 categories are absolute reality. The business challenges are my reality every day,” Bethenny explained.

“I also have a TV production company and wanted to do authentic content that personified who I am, what the conversation is about business right now, non-traditional business, which is what my Just B with Bethenny [Frankel] podcast is all about and many ways to success.”

She said that it all came together at the same time with Mark Burnett and MGM Productions.

“I was on The Apprentice years ago and now, 16 years later, the empire has closed and I am the boss. I’ve earned that title because I’ve been through it all. I work harder than any of these people,” Bethenny said.

“I am qualified to be standing here saying this is what it takes and this is what it takes to work here. To build a brand you have to be driven and you have to be relentless in your work ethic. You have to be a figure-it-out, loyal, trustworthy person so it sort of all just came together as this amazing, authentic, business competition series,” the New York Times bestselling author added.

Bethenny has been on TV for many years and she said that her experience and skill set helped inspire her new series.

“I have this skill set. It’s something that I’ve always had since the minute I walked into television. I am innately aware of the connection between myself and this audience, the connection between myself and other people around me and a production crew. I just understand this medium better than anybody. It’s the one thing that I really am suited to do,” the founder & CEO of Skinnygirl said.

Bethenny feels like it's the perfect time for this series to debut because there are so many people out there looking for jobs and this show can help them build the skill set they need to stand out in an interview just by tuning into the series.

“Now we’re talking about a subject matter where people are looking for jobs. The unemployment rate is so high. We’re coming out of a pandemic so it’s an amazing time to help people learn how to garner a job, how to hire, how to operate, how to present yourself, what it really takes,” she added.

Bethenny said that the unfortunate truth for those who are looking for a job is that a lot of it has to do with chemistry and within the first 60 seconds of an interview, the hirer will make the decision.

“Right away, you know can I live with this person? Can I be in a relationship with this person day in and day out? It’s just like dating. The second thing is [looking at] how someone presents themselves,” Bethenny said before giving us a checklist. “Do they have confidence? Can they crystalize who they are immediately? Do you believe what they’re saying? Do you believe they will be able to back up what they’re presenting? That’s the B.S. metre you have to have it right away.”

Bethenny's No.1 tip for an interviewee: Don't wear a crop top to an interview.
