It wouldn’t be Wynonna Earp (Fridays at 10pET on CTV Sci-Fi) if there wasn’t a cursed, vintage wedding dress waiting in the wings to ruin Waverly and Nicole’s big day. As luck would have it (and, to be clear, we’re talking about the kind of mediocre luck on hand in Purgatory), it’s Wynonna that dons the demonic dress, immediately getting herself stuck inside it. Turning to Doc for defrocking assistance, the pair quickly realize that the dress is enchanted, meaning that removing it won’t be as easy a time as Doc and Wynonna usually have undressing each other.

The two end up at Cursey’s Vintage where they encounter dress designer Brigitte Hogback, a demon jilted at the altar on her own wedding day nearly a century ago. Since then, she’s been crafting bespoke wedding garments designed to cause murder and mayhem among unsuspecting brides and grooms-to-be. Or not to be, since everyone who attends one of her cursed dress affairs ends up dead.

After a failed attempt by Wynonna and Doc to turn earthworms into silkworms, it’s Waverly who takes down the dress demon with a simple binding spell, forbidding Wynonna to use Peacemaker on her. It’s high time that Purgatory’s human and demon populations learn to coexist. With the dress drama out of the way, the wedding can finally begin, featuring Nicole in a stunning velvet suit and Waverly in her mother’s (slightly modified) wedding dress.

Jeremy officiates over the ceremony and — break out the champagne and vegan cupcakes! — the couple Earpers have come to know as Wayhaught are finally hitched. In a nod to the pals they lost, empty chairs are scattered across the homestead lawn etched with names like Dolls and Mercedes.

With one happily ever after down, all that’s left is to see Wynonna and Doc rekindle their seasons-long romance. Instead, Doc leaves on a journey of self-discovery (destination: the Rock n’ Roll hall of fame in Cleveland). Wynonna is forced to say goodbye to her soulmate, telling him it was impossible for her to leave Waverly behind and unprotected in the Ghost River Triangle. Naturally, Waverly herself had something to say about that.

Giving her big sister some serious heck about letting Doc Holliday get away, Waverly tells Wynonna that she has all the protection she needs in Nicole (a.k.a. the Angel’s Shield) and Jeremy (the newly promoted BBD bossman). It’s time, says Waverly, for Wynonna to hit the road again, knowing that Purgatory will always be her home, and that Waverly will always be there waiting for her.

Deciding that she’ll leave with Doc after all, Wynonna gives chase, catching up to him with the help of her motorcycle (and Peacemaker, which she uses to shoot out his tires). The two declare their undying love for each other and decide to travel the road to Cleveland together — with a stop along the way to visit their daughter. Now THAT is what we call a series finale.
