We have a feeling that the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards is going to be extremely funny this year because Saturday Night Live alum Leslie Jones will be hosting.
As this year’s host of the main show, the two-time Emmy-nominated comedian will take the stage on Sunday, May 16 at 9 pm ET/PT to celebrate the biggest and best moments in movies and TV over the past year — and that's a lot because all we've been doing for the past year is watching TV and movies.
To top it all off, Jones is currently nominated for her first-ever MTV Movie & TV Award for Best Comedic Performance for her role in Coming 2 America.
Following the MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday, MTV will air “Movie & TV Awards: UNSCRIPTED” on Monday, May 17, which is a first-of-its-kind celebration of all things reality television. The night will celebrate “the jaw-dropping, no-rules, drama-filled moments from our favourite reality series.”
On Twitter, Jones shared the exciting news, writing, “Get ready for some fun, y’all!”
She added in a follow-up tweet, “Trust me, you don’t want to miss this!!"
Jones will now join the ranks of past MTV Movie & TV Awards emcees, including Tiffany Haddish, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart and Adam DeVine.
Fans can now vote for their favourites across 25 gender-neutral categories including “Best Kiss,” “Breakthrough Performance,” “Best Show,” and more by visiting vote.mtv.com through April 30, 2021.
The 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards air live Sunday, May 16, at 9 p.m. ET/PT and MTV Movie & TV Awards: UNSCRIPTED takes place Monday, May 17, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
