Jordan Fisher, the actor, singer, dancer and musician known for his roles on To All The Boys: P.S. I Love You and Rent: Live, is taking on a new character – Bart Allen, a.k.a. ‘Impulse’ for The CW’s The Flash.
A recurring guest role on the popular show, Bart is the “future son of Barry a.k.a. the Flash (played by Grant Gustin) and Iris (played by Candice Patton).” Bart, as fans will already know, is the fastest teenager on the planet… but that doesn’t necessarily make adolescence any easier. Barry and Iris have their work cut out for them as they work to thwart Bart’s penchant for impulsive behaviour, and teach him the value of patience. This will, after all, be important for Bart to rise to his potential and, perhaps more importantly, rise up against enemies.
Variety shares that Fisher will make his official debut for the 150th episode, amidst the 7th season of the fan-favourite DC drama. This also isn’t the first time Barry and Iris have met future offspring. Back in season 5, the pair met their daughter Nora (played by Jessica Parker Kennedy), who had travelled back in time from the future to help her parents. To fans’ dismay, Nora met her fate at the end of that season.
Interestingly, The CW’s rendition of the classic comic differs from the 1994 DC version. In the original, Bart “hails from the 30th century and is actually Barry’s grandson and a descendant of Barry’s arch-nemesis,” making for some pretty complicated family dynamics. Bart went on to have quite the superhero legacy – becoming the fourth Flash before being murdered and then brought back to life (all in a day’s work really). What will The Flash have in store for this modern take on Bart’s character? We’ll have to wait and see.
An emerging talent of the acting, producing, musical and theatrical variety, Fisher has established an impressive resume of on-screen and on-stage performances including Hamilton, To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, Teen Wolf, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, and (many) more. Oh and, ICYMI, he even competed on Dancing With The Stars. In addition to his upcoming role on The Flash, Fisher will appear in the film Hello, Goodbye and Everything In Between, which he also will executive produce.
