TSN just launched a literal game-changer for hockey fans. With the arrival of TSN 5G View / Vision 5G RDS, fans can take control of cameras at select NHL games, giving them access to a variety of angles on any play. It's available exclusively through Bell Media’s TSN app for iOS and Android, offering fans an exciting and interactive new way to watch sports.
Viewers can zoom in and out during a live game, and the 5G View feature is also available for on-demand highlights of hockey games.
TSN 5G View debuts tonight on TSN and RDS’s regional coverage of the Montreal Canadiens' game against the Vancouver Canucks, giving viewers the chance to get up close to every goal, pass, hit and penalty with the zoom, pause, remind and slow-motion capabilities available.
The new 5G technology also allows hockey fans to get closer to the action, and features views from never-before-seen camera angles during in-game commentary, replays, analysis and post-game recaps. Users will have access to 80 exclusive game cameras from around the stadium that feed into the TSN/RDS apps.
Fans can rewind up to four minutes during live games so they don’t miss a key play.
“Combining Canada’s fastest mobile network with our leading sports properties allows hockey fans to benefit from our world-leading 5G technology’s ability to deliver an all-new sports viewing experience,” said Nauby Jacob, Bell Media’s Senior Vice President, Product Platforms. “TSN 5G View / Vision 5G RDS is a great example of our commitment to leverage Bell’s technology leadership to offer our customers the best content on the most innovative platforms.”
The TSN 5G View feature is only available for home games of the Montreal Canadiens, debuting with tonight's matchup. TSN 5G View / Vision 5G RDS mobile viewing options are available to TSN and RDS app users (direct subscription or through a TV package) with a 5G-capable smartphone from Bell. The feature is available at no additional charge, though data charges may apply depending on a customer's service plan.
“TSN and RDS are proud to partner with the Canadiens to unveil this revolutionary new way to watch hockey. We’re literally handing control of the viewing experience to our fans through their Bell 5G smartphones,” said Nathalie Cook, Vice-President, TSN & RDS. “Because they can’t attend the games in person, we think hockey fans will be delighted with this innovative new option to get close to the action.”
TSN and RDS subscribers on the Bell 5G network with a 5G device can sign in to their TSN and RDS apps to check out the new technology. The 5G view will expand to more sports events, teams and venues over time.
