After a long quarantine hiatus, Scarborough’s own Lilly Singh is back with her late night talk show A Little Late with Lilly Singh. Wearing a Toronto Raptors jersey (because ya gotta represent), she opened the show sinking baskets in the hope that, if she was good enough, she might get something that is coveted by all late night talk show hosts.

“I would like to believe I’m pretty good, decent, dare I say incredible at basketball,” she joked. “At taking shots, not the running part, the taking shots part!” We feel this flex.

“So I am gonna track myself every day, to see if I can get better over the course of season two, and if I am very good and I improve by the end of season two, I get something... I’ve been told it might be Jimmy’s time slot. Just kidding!”

Is she though?

As the fun clip opened, Lilly was asked point blank by a crew member, “Are you going to be good at this?”

Scoffing at such doubt, Lilly gestured to her coveted Toronto Raptors jersey (the old school purple one!) with, “You see the jersey I’m wearing? That means maybe.”

Ouch. But also, fair.

After missing about 6 shots on basket in a row, it would appear her assumption about the jersey was correct, but then, right at the buzzer, she sunk three baskets back-to-back-to-back.

“Kawhi? Doesn’t even matter that he left Toronto!” she hollered.

Lilly’s season two came after a long hiatus due the COVID-19 global pandemic; something that she spoke about prior to her premiere during the very time slot that she covets so dearly: Jimmy Fallon’s.

After speaking about how the focus of season two is to really make the show hers, rather than following a standard talk show format, The Tonight Show (weeknights at 11:30 p.m. ET on CTV) host asked her what she’s been up to during her hiatus and quarantine.

“During the pandemic, I discovered Catan,” she admitted, referring to the board game, The Settlers of Catan, that is loved by uber-nerds and casual board-gamers the world over. “And now I am a full-fledged nerd! And I play online and I play in-person! Catan is my thing!”

But don’t worry, she’s still out here trying to secure some of that sweet Scarborough street cred. “Saweetie was my first guest, and I discovered her song ‘Best Friend’ with Doja Cat,” Lilly laughed. “I can’t twerk but that song makes me want to try!”
