Moore starred opposite actor Shane West in the 2002 film, playing religious teen Jamie Sullivan. After daring a classmate to jump from a water tower — a prank that landed the teen in the hospital — bad boy Landon (West) is given community service. His volunteering continually puts him in Jamie’s path, including with a starring role in the school musical, which is where Landon, and everyone watching A Walk To Remember, falls in love with Moore’s Jamie as she sings a cover of Switchfoot’s’ “Only Hope.”The film has remained a favourite among fans as well as its stars, who reunited in 2019. West gave a heartfelt speech about their time working together when Moore was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, revealing that the pair were similar to their on-screen characters. “I was busy wearing ill-advised clothes and having dubious hair choices and eyeliner in my garage punk band, or whatever that was, and you were killing it on the pop-star scene,” said West. “I was trying to get you to listen to the Clash and the Ramones. You were not interested but you were very sweet about it. You stuck to your Fleetwood Mac, always Fleetwood Mac.”The actor confirmed that the This Is Us star is just as kind as her on-screen character. “Mandy, you’re an absolute gem, your smile is ridiculous, seriously, it’s ridiculous, it lights up a room when you walk in, your energy is irresistible and your heart is second to none,” said West. “I always knew you were incredibly talented and I always knew you would go on to do big things, amazing things, and you have. Here you are about to be immortalized on Hollywood Boulevard. I couldn’t be more proud of you, I couldn’t be happier for you.” Where did we put our cardigan?Mandy Moore just sang “Only Hope” from A Walk to Remember for the first time in almost 20 years, and it was perfect. pic.twitter.com/Stxlmw63Pp
