Earlier this year at the 2020 show, Noah was nominated for best comedy album (Son of Patricia), but he lost to Dave Chappelle and his release of Sticks and Stones. Jim Gaffigan (Quality Time), Ellen DeGeneres (Relatable) and Aziz Ansari (Right Now) rounded out the category’s nominees.Hiring Noah to MC the 2021 edition of the show is a return to the comedic side of things for the academy. For the past two years Alicia Keys hosted the soiree (piano in tow), but in 2017 and 2018 the show relied on another late night host, James Corden, to keep things on track. Basically if the past four years are any indication, this could become a two-year stint for Noah.Of course it’s anyone’s guess what the actual show will look like, given the fact that so many other awards shows have erred on the side of caution by doling out virtual installments of their 2020 celebrations (hi there, Emmys, People’s Choice Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and so many others). The Recording Academy has not yet announced what its plans are as it continues to evaluate all the pros and cons of in-person versus virtual and pre-taped components. This will, however, be Noah’s first time hosting a bigtime awards show like this. Meanwhile, the 2021 Grammy nominees will be announced via live stream on November 24 at 12 p.m. ET.We’re thrilled to welcome @TheDailyShow host, Emmy-winner, and GRAMMY-nominee @TrevorNoah as the host of the 63rd #GRAMMYs!
