Girl power may be something often associated with the Spice Girls — never a bad thing, btw — but sadly, Geri, Mel C., Mel B., and Emma aren't on the soundtrack for the new Charlie's Angels movie. That's OK, though, because there are many other equally deserving women who are, proving girl power is alive, well, and going nowhere. If the first track to be released was any indication, then we should've known that what was in store would be amazing. "Don't Call Me Angel" featuring Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and Lana Del Rey was released in September, but that was just a hint at all the epic all-female collaborations that were to come. What's even more impressive is that Grande is more than just a contributor to the album; according to Pitchfork, she also happens to be executive-producing this beautiful project. Shortly after midnight on Friday, Ari revealed the tracklist and the artists taking part and trust us, you couldn't be more ready.Grande took to social media to unveil the all-female fabulousness, and accompanied it with the caption "the charlie’s angels soundtrack is available for preorder now ! excited and honored to have so many phenomenal, bad ass mf women involved in this incredibly special project. we're all so excited for you to hear this poppy, mildly trappy at times, action filled, dream of a soundtrack. these songs are so right for this film! this has been such a unique and exciting experience for me and i'm so excited to see it and scream whenever i hear all my friends' voices. the time is almost here." She also gave a special thank you to producers and songwriters Savan Kotecha and Ilya Salmanzadeh "for having me along on this ride!"
In the words of the famous Dr. Mindy Lahiri, exsqueeze me?! A track that features Ari, Normani and Nicki Minaj called "Bad to You"? An Ariana and Chaka Khan collaboration? Grande also has a duet with Victoria Monet, and Pitchfork also pointed out that the first track, "How It's Done" from Kash Doll, Kim Petras, Alma and Stefflon Don, was co-written by Ari herself. Because, you know, she wasn't busy enough. Add in singles from M-22, Arlissa, Kiana Lede, Anitta, Danielle Bradbery, and a remix of Donna Summer's "Bad Girls" and lordy, we may be ready but maybe we're not worthy of this awesomeness. That rustling you hear is all of us bowing down.It should also be noted that the only dudes whose names appear on the tracklist are Jack Elliott and Allyn Ferguson, but they're responsible for composing the original theme song so they definitely deserve the honour of appearing alongside these stunning women. The soundtrack is due out November 1, two weeks before Charlie's Angels hits theatres on November 15. If anything, that gives you plenty of time to listen to it on repeat so you can sing along. Zig-a-zig-ah.
