[video_embed id='1726612']RELATED: Mariah Carey says she's proud to be a "prude"[/video_embed]According to Amazon the new, 32-track album will feature previously unreleased material including demos, b-sides and a single featuring Lauryn Hill called “Save the Day.” It will also include live renditions of some of her classic songs, like “Emotions,” “Always Be My Baby,” and “Hero” that were recorded at the Toyko Dome in 1996.Fans have known something was up Carey’s glitter-covered sleeve since earlier this summer when she teased new stuff in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of her self-titled debut album. “I had planned to share some surprises & rarities with you, but prefer to postpone them to a later date,” she wrote on Instagram.Everyday fans aren’t the only ones who are understandably freaking out about the news. (She is the solo artist with the most No. 1 hits—18!—in the States, after all.) Celebrity fans were also gushing following the announcement, taking to her Instagram and Twitter pages to share their approval. “OH MY GOODNESS! Yes, thank you for this,” wrote fellow songstress Jordin Sparks.Carey opened up further about the upcoming release when she appeared on Good Morning America on August 19. "I found stuff in my vault that I had either started to work on a long time ago and never released or that I wanted to kind of finish mixing," Carey said live from her home. “But there are songs that have previously not been released. It’s exciting and it’s a monumental occasion for my career. Being in this business for two years is tough but somehow we’ve lasted,” she also joked. In addition to working on the album and revealing to host Michael Strahan during the GMA chat that she’s dropping a new song with Jermaine Dupri on August 21, Carey has had quite the year. In June she crashed a Schitt’s Creek commencement video to creator Dan Levy’s utter delight; in April her fans helped bolster her 2008 album E=MC2 to the top of the iTunes charts; John Legend hilariously parodied her just in time for Valentine’s Day; and most recently she’s been putting the finishing touches on her memoir. In fact, The Meaning Of Mariah Carey drops on September 29, just a few days before The Rarities release. That means lambs can actually listen to new and vintage Carey at the same time as they’re reading up on her life.“The whole thing has been a labour of love,” Carey added on GMA. “The cool thing about this project is that there are songs that I talk about writing or recording even as a little kid, starting as a little kid until now that I’ve found in the vault. We’re putting this out at the same time. I don’t want to give away too many titles or anything but it’s exciting because they’re merged together in a really organic way.”In other words? It sounds like it’s going to be a very Mariah Carey-filled fall. 2020 is looking up after all.[video_embed id='2011259']BEFORE YOU GO: Former Hollywood stylist ‘outs’ celebrities for being the worst to work with[/video_embed]This one is for you, my fans.
