Few artists have been able to channel their pain into shared suffering as beautifully as Adele, so it’s no surprise that the English singer is taking inspiration from her recent divorce. Adele announced her separation from husband Simon Konecki in the spring and is planning on channeling the pain over the split into a new album. Just give her all the Grammys now.Adele announced her separation from Konecki through her reps in a brief statement in April. “Adele and her partner have separated,” read the email about the couple, who are parents to 6-year-old Angelo. “They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.” While Adele has yet to directly speak about the split, the singer alluded to the separation in as post celebrating her 31st birthday.“Thirty tried me so hard but I’m owning it and trying my hardest to lean in to it all,” wrote Adele. “Thirty-one is going to be a big ol’ year and I’m going to spend it all on myself. For the first time in a decade I’m ready to feel the world around me and look up for once. Be kind to yourself people we’re only human, go slow, put your phone down and laugh out loud at every opportunity. Learning to REALLY truly love yourself is it, and I’ve only just realized that that is more than enough.” Now according to sources close to Adele, the singer’s ‘big’ 31st year may include new music.
Famous for turning heartbreak into hits, Adele took inspiration from one of her exes to write some of her biggest tracks, including “Someone Like You” and it looks like she could be returning to that model. “She is definitely getting ready both mentally and physically to promote new music. It seems it will happen later this year,” one source tells People. “She talks about last year as a very difficult year, and she’s said in the past that creating new music is almost like therapy. You can tell that she is ready to share with her fans.”Splitting with Konecki after more than seven years together, the source says that Adele is now in a positive space. “She is so busy, but her life is better-rounded than it was before. She is very fulfilled being an artist. New music is still a big deal for her, and she feels alive and happy,” says the source, with another adding “She’s perky as hell!”Spending the summer sightseeing in the US with her young son, Adele has shared a handful of private moments with fans, a first for the usually guarded singer. Having recently made LA her second home after her native UK, the snaps show a happy and carefree Adele exploring Utah and Lake Powell with Angelo and friends.
It’s likely that Adele’s next record will be full of references to her relationship with Konecki as the pair’s highly private romance was the longest of Adele’s life. But that doesn’t mean fans are getting a record filled only with sad songs. It appears that the singer has been able to focus on joyful moments as well, including time spent this year with her son and five of her biggest motivators. We’re talking Scary, Baby, Posh, Sporty, and Ginger.
