Tina Turner is finally inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame

We’ve always known that music legend Tina Turner is simply the best. Better than all the rest. But now her name will echo for all eternity, as it was announced this morning that she is to be inducted into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame. Honestly, how was she not in there already?

Wednesday morning, the Hall of Fame announced all of the inductees, and we are delighted to see many women on the list. In fact, it’s the first year that three women have been inducted in the performance category. *Looks at the calendar* It’s 2021 right?

“This is the most diverse class of inductees in the history of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame,” John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, told Pitchfork. Tina Turner’s fellow inductees include Carole King, Foo Fighters, Jay-Z, The Go-Go’s and Todd Rundgren in the performance category. In the special categories, inductees include LL Cool J, Kraftwerk, Gil Scott-Heron, Charley Patton, and Billy Preston. The longlist this year featured some notable names like Mary J. Blige, Chaka Khan, and Twitter queen Dionne Warwick, but they didn’t make the final selection.

It should be noted that Tina is being inducted on her own as a solo artist, as she previously shared an induction honour as part of Ike and Tina with her ex-husband, Ike Turner. Carole King has previously earned an induction with Gerry Goffin, and Dave Grohl’s first induction was as a member of Nirvana. 

News of the inductee list has set tongues wagging, with Tina fans wondering what the heck took so long! In fact, her name has been a trending topic on Twitter all Wednesday morning. Despite the decades-long snub, there is nothing but love for Tina (but what’s love got to do – got to do with it?).

Tina is also the only person on the performance list who has retired. She moved to Switzerland long ago to be with her husband Erwin Bach, and is basically living a dream life. We are proud of you, “Proud Mary!”
