Music is powerful and it’s helped many of us get through this pandemic. It's seen us through some tough times but we’re also itching to get back to live concerts to experience all those songs in person with a live band, real heart-pounding bass and all of the lights.
Céline Dion feels the exact same way and she told Etalk’s Traci Melchor all about it.
“For you to mention that [live music] -- there’s a lot of butterflies in my stomach just thinking to go back on stage and sing again. This is something that I’m looking forward [to] so, so much,” Dion said.
The Canadian songstress has been forced to postpone her Courage World Tour until 2023, but she will still be going ahead with her headlining gig at Resorts World Las Vegas later this year.
“I’m being very creative right now with my team. We’re putting on a new show together which will be held at Resorts World and the first show will be on November 5,” the “My Heart Will Go On” hitmaker revealed.
“Right now the creativity is going wild, bringing some ideas, the sky’s the limit.”
Dion stresses that they are “super careful” with the new show because of the state of the world.
“At the same time, it’s also very difficult because having creativity and building a new show and at the same time we know that the world is not ready to be all opened up because we’re still losing a lot of people and people are still struggling quite a bit so we have to be super careful.”
The Grammy-winning singer said that live performances will happen again but “in a new way, in a new world.”
“I understand that in the U.S. it’s starting to re-open again slowly but surely. On the other side, we look at Canada, we look at India and Brazil and it’s like we have to realize that this is not behind us. We’re still in it and we have to be super, super careful," she said.
"It’s OK to prepare, to be creative and to think that singing will happen again but it’s also in a new way, in a new world. It’s emotionally very — everything that we decide to go with right now it involves very different kinds of emotions, I have to say.”
Ever the style icon, Céline admits one big question still is, "what am I going to wear?!"
"What kind of makeup am I going to do? What kind of hair? I don't even know!" she continued. "I'm putting my hair in a chignon — I don't know what to do! I'm putting a watch on and it feels awkward! I'm trying to put earrings in and I'm like 'ahhh!' It feels weird. Everything is weird."
"I promise you — [the show] will not look weird."
