The finalists for the 2021 Billboard Music Awards have been revealed and we are so ready for another star-studded event, honouring the world of music.

The Today Show shared the news on Thursday morning and the show started with announcements for Top Hot 100 Artist, which includes The Weeknd, DaBaby, Drake, Dua Lipa and the late rapper Pop Smoke.

The Weeknd leads the 2021 nominations with 16 nods, including Top Artist, Top Male Artist and Top Hot 100 Artist. DaBaby follows The Weeknd with 11 nominations and Pop Smoke with 10 nods.

Reggaetón superstar Bad Bunny isn't far behind with 7 nominations this year. He received three nods in the Top Latin Album category for El Último Tour Del Mundo, las que no iban a salir and YHLQMDLG.

Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion and Gabby Barrett are the most nominated women this year. Meg received seven nominations and Barrett has nine.

Country singer Morgan Wallen has earned six nominations across five categories, but he won't be appearing at this year's ceremony after he was caught using a racial slur in a video.

“Morgan Wallen is a finalist this year based on charting. As his recent conduct does not align with our core values, we will not be including him on the show in any capacity (performing, presenting, accepting)," Dick Clark Productions said in a statement.

This year’s Billboard Music Awards, which airs live on Sunday, May 23 at 8 p.m. ET, is based on the chart data from March 21, 2020, through April 3, 2021, which means that Meg and Cardi’s “WAP” should finally get the recognition it deserves.

Drake, who is already the artist with the most wins of all time with 27, could make history at this year's award show by breaking his own record. He's nominated in seven categories, including, Top Artist, Top Male Artist and Top Streaming Songs Artist.
