Coded. Coquettish. Coy. Three words we’re not going to use to describe Ariana Grande’s newest single which just got its own aesthetically cool retro-futuristic video this morning. The track, ‘34+35’ (that equals 69 for all you mathletes out there) off her new album ‘Positions,’ is all about sex and there’s certainly no shyness involved. Direct. Straight to the point. We like it.The singer released a teaser for the new video over the weekend, hinting that she’d be getting experimental in the forthcoming clip. Grande was seen wearing a lab coat and carrying a clipboard in the sneak peek, looking like the Chief Science Officer of a laboratory that manufactures shiny old-school robots and only employs total babes. When the full clip from Director X dropped today, we saw Ariana in a lab coat and heels, Ariana in a nude bodysuit, an Ariana fembot, and Ariana as… the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz? Ariana as the Maschinenmensch from Fritz Lang’s Metropolis? Ariana as a Doctor Who Cyberwoman? Whatever the case, it’s a fun video to go with a sweet, upbeat pop song that isn’t as X-rated as Cardi B’s ‘WAP’ but also isn’t a track you’ll be playing for the kids after school today.[video_embed id='1931550']RELATED: Ariana Grande shows off her naturally curly hair in self-isolation[/video_embed]“It’s just a fun song,” said Grande in a late October interview with Metro UK, “and it deserves a home on the album for sure. I think that everything I do has a little bit of humour... I’ve been very nervous about this one but I do love it, and sonically it’s one of my favourite things we’ve ever done... I just think it’s ridiculous, so funny and stupid," she added. “We heard the strings that sounded so Disney and orchestral, and full and pure.”Watch the new video below (maybe with headphones on, depending on who’s around).
