Ariana Grande becomes first female president in video for 'Positions'

Ariana Grande has released the music video for her single “Positions” and is taking on a new position in the inspiring clip. Sporting an updated half-pony hairstyle and even higher heels, Grande is the very capable first female president of the United States in her new music video, where she surrounds herself with a female and gender-nonconforming administration. We’d vote for that.Grande is signing laws in the Oval Office, taking meetings with the Secret Service and handing out medals of honor to mail carriers in her latest video. A few familiar faces pop up throughout the almost 3-minute clip, including Grande’s mother Joan, who is part of her cabinet. Several of Grande’s dogs also get starring roles in the short film where they walk the grounds at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. and admire their own portraits, which hang throughout the White House. Moving between the boardroom and the kitchen, Grande sings “Switching the positions for you / Cooking in the kitchen and I'm in the bedroom / I'm in the Olympics way I'm jumping through hoops / Know my love infinite nothing I wouldn't do.” Fans also noticed what seems like it could be an intentional syntax change designed to slight ex-bf, Pete Davidson.In the opening line, "Heaven sent you to me, I’m just hoping I don’t repeat history," Ari takes a lengthy pause between the two syllables of "re-peat," clearly distinguishing "re" and "peat" and perhaps thereby pointing out she won't be re-Pete-ing either.

Although Grande's politically themed music video is not as direct in its contempt for the current administration as fellow Scooter Braun artist Demi Lovato’s latest single “Commander In Chief,” Grande is still using her visuals to make a point, including celebrating the USPS, an organization that the Trump administration has been attempting to dismantle as a form of voter suppression over the past year. Grandes’ spotlight on women in the military, the Secret Service and in politics is also not lost on viewers, with the popstar giving her young audience a chance to envision their potential future careers, which they don’t often see reflected in the news.

The Florida native has been urging her fellow Floridians to register to vote, as well as fans in other states across the US.
