The new Borat movie hasn’t even dropped yet, but after critics got a hold of early screeners this week it became clear that quite a few people are not going to look good when it's released on October 23. And at the top of that list is former New York City mayor and current Donald Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani.Giuliani is featured in the mockumentary in a scene filmed this past summer, where he has his hands down his pants while in a hotel room. But there’s more. Giuliani went to that hotel room believing he was going to be interviewed about Trump’s response to the pandemic, and Borat’s daughter (played by Maria Bakalova) pretends to be a conservative female journalist when he arrives.Once inside, “the journalist” invites Giuliani to the bedroom, where there are hidden cameras everywhere. Giuliani then asks the woman for her number and address, and he lies back and puts his hands down his pants. At that point Borat (Sacha Baron Cohen) busts in as part of the “crew” and shouts, “She 15! She too old for you!” (In real life Bakalova is 24.) The pair are then tossed from the room and Giuliani calls the police, which he previously discussed with Page Six.Although the general public hasn’t seen the film yet, the scene quickly started trending on Twitter, prompting Guiliani to respond on the social media platform. In a series of posts, he called the video a “complete fabrication,” while pointing out that the NY Post reported that the bit looked like an exaggeration made in editing. The politician also addressed the movie with a New York talk radio show, giving a few more details. “I had to take off the electronic equipment,” he explained on 77 WABC. “And when the electronic equipment came off, some of it was in the back and my shirt came a little out, although my clothes were entirely on. I leaned back, and I tucked my shirt in, and at that point, at that point, they have this picture they take which looks doctored, but in any event, I’m tucking my shirt in. I assure you that’s all I was doing.”Giuliani also reiterated his stance that the footage was doctored, and that people in the TV and film industry have it out for him harder than Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City when she can no longer smoke in public. “Everybody in Hollywood hates me, you know, right?” he added. “I’m a devil in Hollywood. Nothing about me comes out in that period of time, nothing sensational about me in the movie. Now all of a sudden there’s all this sensational stuff about me in the movie. Don’t know if it was added, doctored, manipulated, whatever,” he said.“At one point [the woman] explained to me some problems she had. I actually prayed with her,” he continued. “And then I had to leave. I had my jacket on. I was fully clothed at all times.”Giuliani may not be a fan of the film, but celebrities including Seth Rogan, Josh Gad and Adam McKay are already sharing their early love of the new Borat online, and many other fans have been expressing their excitement for the sequel ever since the raunchy trailer was released. So… was it all a big Giuliani setup, or more bad behaviour by those in power caught on film?
