Would it really be a She’s All That remake without the star who stole everyone’s hearts in the original film? Nope, and luckily for fans, the producers agree. That’s why Rachael Leigh Cook has officially been cast in the upcoming, Addison Rae-starring movie He’s All That.

In the original, Cook played Laney Boggs, AKA the girl that Freddie Prinze Jr.’s character Zackary Siler gave a makeover to following a bet in the 1999 film (at time of press, Prinze still wasn’t attached to appear). The remake will see Cook take on a new role as the mother of the new female protagonist, Padgett Sawyer (Rae). The new films sees the gender roles from the original flipped, and it’s Padgett who tries to makeover an unpopular boy named Cameron Kweller (Tanner Buchanan) following a bet.

“I’m thrilled to be reunited with so many familiar faces! This version has a great new spin that I think people will really enjoy,” Cook said in a statement. Meanwhile, in an interview with Variety, in which Cook discussed her latest Netflix project, Love, Guaranteed, the actor also opened up about her experience making She’s All That more than two decades ago now. “I’m just grateful every day that I didn’t come of age in the era of camera phones, and yet, that makes me sound way more scandalous than I actually was,” she told the publication.

He’s All That is in the early stages of filming, but it has been adding to the cast slowly but surely over the past couple of weeks. Recently the movie also revealed that Kourtney Kardashian had joined the cast in a cameo part. That same week the film’s official Instagram page revealed some first-look photos of Rae and Buchanan from the set. Mark Waters, AKA the guy who directed Mean Girls and Freaky Friday, directs.

Before taking the lead in She’s All That, Cook starred in a handful of projects including 1995’s The Baby-Sitters Club movie, in which she played Mary Anne. Throughout her career she also played Josie in the 2001 Josie and the Pussycats film, and had recurring roles on TV shows like Dawson’s Creek and Psych. In 2012 she starred alongside Eric McCormack in the TV drama Perception, and she’s also appeared as several characters in Robot Chicken.

In addition to shooting Love, Guaranteed, the 41-year-old has also been busy this year shooting the Hallmark Christmas movie Cross Country Christmas, as well as the indie comedy Film Fest with Matt Cook, Will Sasso and Ellen Wong. So far she doesn’t have any other films listed for the upcoming year, but just give her time. After all, she is all that.
