Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels put both director Guy Ritchie and hunky actor Jason Statham on the map back in 1998 with the gritty, crime-comedy caper that has become a hallmark of the director’s style. They reunited again in 2002 for Snatch, which co-starred Brad Pitt putting on an impressive Pikey accent, and then again in 2005 for the not-so-popular Revolver.Since then, Statham has become a Hollywood heavyweight, taking on testosterone-laden parts in Crank and The Transporter, while Ritchie hit big with Sherlock Holmes and The Gentlemen. It’s been 15 long years since the duo worked together on a project, but it’s now official: they’ve both signed on to star and direct, respectively, in a new project called Five Eyes.[video_embed id='1876039']RELATED: Matthew McConaughey & 'The Gentlemen' cast toast to Guy Ritchie’s latest wild ride[/video_embed]According to Variety, Statham will play Orson Fortune, an MI6 guns-and-steel agent who is “recruited by global intelligence alliance Five Eyes to track down and stop the sale of a deadly new weapons technology that threatens to disrupt the world order. Reluctantly paired with CIA high-tech expert Sarah Fidel, Fortune sets off on a globe-trotting mission where he will have to use all of his charm, ingenuity and stealth to track down and infiltrate billionaire arms broker Greg Simmonds.”Yup, this definitely sounds like a Jason Statham character to us. Who’s taking bets that he’ll speak in a gruff, raspy manner and brood the whole film, too? There’s no word yet who will play the characters of Sarah Fidel or Greg Simmonds, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed that some of the other Lock, Stock… actors make a few cameos.According to The Hollywood Reporter, there’s a wee Canadian connections as well: the distribution company STXFilms is using the Toronto International Film Festival virtual market this year to find foreign buyers for the Miramax-produced film.Miramax CEO Bill Block said in a statement, “We’re excited to be reunited with the STX team, as well as Ritchie and Statham whose undeniable chemistry, philosophy and talent will surely attract a massive appeal from audiences worldwide.”[video_embed id='-1']Before you go: Australian Shepherd makes epic jump into owner's arms[/video_embed]
