Following a too-short sneak peek at a scene from After We Collided shared on Twitter last February, Hardin and Tessa are back in the first full trailer for the sequel to last spring’s steamy teen romance, After. The franchise, based on Anna Todd’s One Direction-inspired fanfiction series, will return to screens this fall (even if those screens will be smaller than the ones at the cinema). The movie will be released via video on demand — and from the looks of the new clip, we may all be better off watching from the privacy of our own homes. Pro tip: have a fan and a cold shower on standby because we’re forecasting a very HOT October 2nd.[video_embed id='2001156']RELATED: One Direction mark a major milestone[/video_embed]The follow-up film finished shooting last September and part two of the story will see Tessa (Josephine Langford) and Hardin (Hero Fiennes-Tiffin) pick up where they left off: deciding whether or not to continue their volatile relationship. Should they go ahead with a romance centred on physical chemistry? We say yes, but that could be the pandemic talking. After We Collided will introduce a host of new characters and, like in the first film, some of them will be there to try to drive a wedge between our two leads (good luck finding even an inch of space). Tessa will have a new man in her life (played by Cole Sprouse’s twin brother, Dylan) and a new boss (The Vampire Diaries’ Candace King). Some things, however, won’t ever change. Turn up the A/C and check out the new clip below to see what we mean.
Upon its release, After had critics calling it “tepid and tired” but the Fifty-Shades-of-Grey-for-teens formula worked on its intended audience, who voted the film Choice Drama Movie at the 2019 Teen Choice Awards. If all goes well with the release of After We Collided, Todd has three more books on deck: After We Fell, After Ever Happy, and a prequel about Hardin’s pre-Tessa life titled Before.[video_embed id='2001455']BEFORE YOU GO: Dog hilariously tries to push cat out of family picture [/video_embed]
