Never Have I Ever star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is keeping it in the Netflix family with her latest project.
The 19-year-old Canadian actress will star in the streaming service's new romantic comedy The Netherfield Girls as Lizzie Bennett, a reimagined version of Jane Austen's famous character from her novel Pride and Prejudice who eventually discovers the man she thinks is Mr. Wrong is actually Mr. Right.
According to Variety, the movie is described as a "fresh contemporary take on Pride and Prejudice in the spirit of the teen comedy Easy A and 10 Things I Hate About You."
Writer and director Becca Gleason will lead the project but no release date or other cast info for the film has been announced.
"Next project here we come," Ramakrishnan tweeted on Wednesday afternoon.
In her Instagram announcement, Ramakrishnan wrote: "I had to keep this secret for so long but HERE YOU GO!!!! AAAA I’m so excited. @beccamillergleason is such a homie to me already. Couldn’t ask for a better first feature-film. Time to do Jane Austen proud."
While Ramakrishnan fans wait for more details on The Netherfield Girls, they still have much to look forward to with the second season of Never Have I Ever set to hit Netflix in July.
