Great news for fans of Dakota Johnson, and for Dakota Johnson herself: the actress is set to work with her favourite comedian (who is, in fact, not Ellen DeGeneres) on the upcoming project, Am I Ok?. The film will be co-directed by longtime partners Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne.
Fans will likely recall, back in 2019, Dakota let it slip during an interview with Ellen (yes, that interview) that Tig Notaro was her "favourite comedian." Realizing what she had just said, Johnson quickly attempted to back-pedal, clarifying that Notaro was her favourite comedian other than Ellen.
Now, it seems, Johnson's fondness for Notaro has come full circle, as The High Note actress joins the already stacked ensemble cast of Am I Ok? alongside Sonoya Mizuno (Ex Machina, Crazy Rich Asians), Jermaine Fowler (Coming 2 America, Sorry to Bother You), and Molly Gordon (Booksmart, Life of the Party).
Rounding out the rest of the cast are Whitmer Thomas, June Diane Raphael, Sean Hayes, and Notaro.
According to Variety, Am I Ok? tells the story of two lifelong best friends, Lucy and Jane, who, after spending countless years and milestones together, assume that they know everything there is to know about each other — that is, until Jane announces she's planning to move from L.A. to London for a job opportunity. Lucy, in turn, reveals a long-held secret, and suddenly, their friendship comes to face new and unexpected challenges.

The film, which Variety reports is set to begin production on Feb. 1st in Los Angeles, brings together a powerhouse team behind the camera, including Will Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum who will produce through their Gloria Sanchez Productions company. Dakota Johnson will also produce through TeaTime Pictures with Ro Donnelly, along with Notaro and Allynne’s Something Fierce company.
Now, let’s circle back to Johnson. Beyond landing exciting new movie roles and house hunting with beau Chris Martin, what has she been up to?
Definitely not eating limes, that’s for sure.
In a recent interview with etalk's Chloe Wilde, Dakota Johnson revealed she actually doesn't "love limes," despite repeatedly saying so in her memorable Architectural Digest house tour. In fact, she's actually allergic to them. In Dakota's own words: “It's a total disaster."
Who knew that Johnson’s overzealous bowl of limes would be the internet meme that keeps on giving? #LimeGate2021
