The actor and TV host will star in A Recipe for Seduction, a mini-movie coming to Lifetime this Sunday at 12 p.m. If you were looking for a confirmation that we are currently living in Season 6 of Black Mirror, well, this is probably it. The original movie/soap opera/commercial is sponsored by KFC and will run 15 minutes. That’s right… 15 minutes of deep-fried, soapy glory with Lopez’s dimples and signature smirk taking centre stage.
We cannot stress this enough – this is 100% real. Real people went into the real making of this very real movie. The very real synopsis reads, “As the holidays draw near, a young heiress contends with the affections of a suitor handpicked by her mother. When the handsome chef, Harland Sanders, arrives with his secret fried chicken recipe and a dream, he sets in motion a series of events that unravels the mother’s devious plans. Will our plucky heiress escape to her wintry happily ever after with Harland at her side, or will she cave to the demands of family and duty?”
So basically, it’s the season finale of The Bachelor if Chris Harrison was replaced by an over-bearing mother, and if all meals involved fried chicken. The final rose isn’t a rose, or a proposal, but a ‘top secret’ fried chicken recipe offered up by Lopez dressed in a tight white shirt that should not, for a second, detract attention from his salt and pepper goatee. The runner-up is a bitter but well dressed man who says things like “The secret’s out, chicken man”.Apparently, this isn’t the first nod to a “sexy” Colonel Sanders.
There is, quite literally, a dating simulator called ‘I Love You, Colonel Sanders! A Finger Lickin’ Good Dating Simulator’. The game asks players if they have what it takes to be the business partner of and win the heart of the most famous chicken salesman of all time.
So, is Lifetime is on to something with this very unexpected but also kind of hilarious rom-com? Were we just late to the party? We are confused, but also intrigued. Mostly confused, though.
And naturally, the internet is having a field day with this.
And ICYMI, Lopez also hosted the Tyson vs. Jones fight last week and, to everyone’s surprise, stole the show. By stole the show, we mean he set the internet on fire. Clearly, that was just the appetizer for what was to come (sexy fried chicken).
A Recipe for Seduction will air this Sunday at 12 P.M. on Lifetime, and will later be added to the network’s streaming platforms for all your viewing pleasure.[video_embed id='2094786']BEFORE YOU GO: Our hosts are spooked by the ghastly face in this picture[/video_embed]
