Is Destiny's Child a front for a time-traveling organization? Is Kelly Rowland really a young Donna Summer who has jumped 40 years into the future? Are we living in The Matrix? These are the burning questions tearing up Twitter recently as an unearthed photograph of "I Feel Love" disco queen Donna Summer has people doing a double-take. Seriously, this 1979 magazine picture of Donna looks eerily a lot like Kelly. We demand answers.
Posted by music critic Craig Seymour, he also added to the thread that the picture comes out of a 1979 issue of Rona Barrett's Hollywood, which also features Rod Stewart, Cher, and The Village People on the cover. The headline screams, "Disco Fever: It Just Won't Go Away!" Ah, 'twas a simpler time. Cuteness aside, we're not alone when we say, yeah, Kelly Rowland could be Donna's doppelganger here. So much so that Kelly's name was a trending topic on Twitter over the weekend.
Donna Summer, who reigned in the '70s with big hits like "Love To Love You Baby" and "Last Dance," had a long and illustrious career after the disco crave fizzled out in the '80s, coming back strong with big hits like "She Works Hard For The Money." The great talent and beauty passed away in 2012 at the age of 63 after a battle with lung cancer, but as many are suggesting, she is long overdue for a biopic, and thanks to Twitter, we know just the person to take up the role.
It's perfect timing for Kelly to play the role she was born to play as well, because there is currently a hit Broadway musical called Summer: The Donna Summer Musical that needs to be made into a movie ASAP.
Make that biopic, Hollywood!
