The couple, who wed in August 2015, share one child. On Wednesday, Morgan released a
statement through his rep. “Sadly, after nearly five years of marriage, Megan and I are filing for divorce. This is a challenging time for all involved, so I ask that you please respect our privacy,” said Morgan. A rep for Wollover also released a
statement, adding "We can confirm that Megan filed for divorce yesterday. This is a private matter for the family. Megan's primary focus remains the best interest of the parties’ daughter. She asks that the family’s privacy be respected during this difficult time."Morgan announced the pair’s
engagement on the red carpet of the Emmys in September 2011. Speaking to Ryan Seacrest, the couple said that the proposal had taken place six months earlier in San Francisco. "It wasn't anything crazy," said Wollover at the time. "He was on bended knee and everything." The couple’s first and only child together, daughter Maven, was born two years later on July 2, 2013. Morgan also shares three sons with his first wife, Sabina Morgan. The pair wed in 1987 while still in high school and divorced in 2009 after 23 years of marriage. In 2014, Morgan was involved in a horrific six-vehicle crash in New Jersey. Morgan was in a minibus with his friends and fellow comedians at the time of the crash. The bus was hit from behind by a tractor-trailer operated by a Walmart driver. The crash killed Morgan’s friend, 62-year-old James McNair, and left Morgan and the other passengers onboard severely injured. Morgan suffered a broken leg and femur, as well as a broken nose and broken ribs. The
30 Rock star underwent emergency surgery on his leg and endured months of rehab, which included learning how to walk again. During his first post-accident interview on
The Today Show, Morgan revealed that he had missed McNair’s funeral because he was in a coma.Morgan and Wollover were married the following year and Morgan frequently credited Wollover in interviews for helping him get through the long and painful rehab and the loss of McNair. Appearing on stage at the 2015 Emmys,
Morgan told the crowd “Last year, Jimmy Kimmel sat on this stage and said, ‘We’ll see you back here next year, Tracy Morgan.’ Thanks to my amazing doctors and the support of my family and my beautiful, new wife, I’m here. Standing on my own two feet. And God bless all of you for your love, your prayers, your positive thoughts for the past 15 months.”In October 2016, Wollover spoke to
Essence about Morgan’s crash and commented on the immense emotional and physical toll it took on their family. “We really went through a life and death situation,”
said Wollover. “We had a daughter, which was new life, and then 9 or 10 months later the accident happened and Tracy almost died. I look back on it like a movie or a nightmare. I go, ‘Did that really happen?’ …I said he’s a miracle because through therapy and God and all the help of the doctors, in some ways I feel like he’s stronger and better for it.”This past June marked the five year anniversary of the bus crash that claimed McNair’s life. Morgan honoured his late friend and his family with an emotional Twitter thread.
