Another famous woman is coming forward with claims that she, too, was in an abusive relationship with Shia LaBeouf. After FKA twigs filed a lawsuit against the actor late last week for “relentless abuse,” Sia has opened up about her own experiences with him.

“I too have been hurt emotionally by Shia, a pathological liar, who conned me into an adulterous relationship claiming to be single,” Sia tweeted out on December 12 along with a link to the New York Times article that first detailed FKA twigs’ suit. “I believe he’s very sick and have compassion for him AND his victims. Just know, if you love yourself—stay safe, stay away.”

The “Chandelier” singer, who is notoriously private, then posted another tweet directed at FKA twigs. “Also I love you,” she continued. “This is very courageous and I’m very proud of you.” For her part, twigs stood in solidarity with Sia, retweeting both of her posts. “Love you back @Sia you’re an inspiration and thank you everyone for your love and solidarity,” she added in one retweet.

Although LaBeouf and Sia were never romantically linked in the press, he appeared in her 2015 music video for “Elastic Heart” alongside frequent Sia collaborator Maddie Ziegler. In the controversial video the pair danced half-naked in a giant cage, drawing comparisons to pedophilia since at the time LaBeouf was 28 and Ziegler was 12. It was enough to spark a public apology from Sia on Twitter.

“I anticipated some ‘pedophelia!!!’ Cries for this video. All I can say is Maddie and Shia are two of the only actors I felt could play These two [warring] ‘Sia’ self states,” she wrote at the time. “I apologize to those who feel triggered by #ElasticHeart My intention was to create some emotional content, not to upset anybody.”

At the time of the video LaBoeuf was dating London actor and model Mia Goth, whom he married in 2016 and divorced in 2018. Earlier this year the pair were spotted out together in Los Angeles, wearing their wedding rings. Over the years the actor has also been romantically linked to Megan Fox, Amber Tamblyn, Isabel Lucas, Carey Mulligan and Kate Mara.

LaBeouf began dating FKA twigs shortly after his divorce to Goth was finalized. The pair starred together in LaBeouf’s heavy film Honey Boy, a story that he wrote while in therapy for PTSD and alcoholism. In the semi-autobiographical film he played a fictionalized version of his own father, tackling themes of abuse and child stardom.

In the lawsuit FKA twigs details several reported events of abuse including an assault outside of a gas station, a time when he recklessly drove a car and threatened to crash it, and how he knowingly gave her an STD. The suit also mentions another one of the LaBeouf’s exes, Even Stevens stylist Karolyn Pho, who also had traumatic experiences with the actor. “What I went through with Shia was the worst thing I’ve ever been through in the whole of my life,” FKA twigs told The Times. “I don’t think people would ever think that it would happen to me. But I think that’s the thing. It can happen to anybody.”

“I am not cured of my PTSD and alcoholism. I am committed to doing what I need to do to recover, and I will forever be sorry to the people that I may have harmed along the way,” LaBeouf told the publication in a statement, adding that he is currently sober and in a 12-step program and therapy. “I’m not in any position to tell anyone how my behaviour made them feel. I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say.”
