Fans may have been a little concerned on March 3 when Shawn Mendes didn’t take to social media to wish his girlfriend Camila Cabello a happy birthday. But as it turns out, that’s probably because he was on a six-hour flight from Toronto to the U.K. to throw her a princess-worthy surprise party. As only a true prince would.Cabello is currently in the U.K. filming the musical adaptation of
Cinderella—she plays the title character—so Mendes thought it would be fitting to throw her a Cinderella-themed bash. After all, Cabello has been open about how
Cinderella inspires her and how she loves “living in her magical world.” It seems like Mendes was just once again proving #relationshipgoals by making her dreams a reality.[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: Camila Cabello on the first time she performed ‘Señorita’ with Shawn Mendes[/video_embed]Cast and crew members joined the hot couple at Blackpool Tower, where there was lots of dancing, a giant ice sculpture of a glass slipper, and a pumpkin cake. But those weren’t the only romantic touches of the evening. Mendes also treated his lady to a fancy dinner at The Fat Duck restaurant and gifted her with flowers and chocolate. Way to put the word “charming” back in Prince Charming, Shawn.
Cinderella director Kay Cannon was also in attendance, and she posted a cute photo of the birthday girl and her prince surrounded by all of the love. “Sweet @camila_cabello turns 23 today!!! Celebratin’ ‘Cinderella’ style. Happy bday, Cinders!!!!! @shawnmendes,” she captioned the post.
For her part, Cabello also captured quite a bit of the party on her Instagram stories to let fans get in on the celebration. Someone (probably Mendes?) filmed her busting out her moves on the dance floor, and at one point participating in a conga line with fellow partiers. It all seemed like the perfect birthday, and now boyfriends everywhere will never, ever be able to compete.Cabello officially turned 23 on March 3, and as a birthday gift she asked fans to put money towards a
good cause on Instagram. “For my birthday I wanna bring attention to one of the worst humanitarian crises happening in the world right now, in Syria. 950,000 people have been forced to flee their homes because of the violence in Idlib – some with only the clothes on their backs. Most of them are children,” she wrote.“Now, they’re living in displacement camps in freezing cold temperatures. families shouldn’t have to choose between dying from bombs or freezing cold temperatures. Save the Children is working to provide displaced families with food, blankets and warmth. They are trying to keep kids families safe, but they need our help. so for my birthday, it would mean the world to me if you would consider supporting Save the Children’s response to this humanitarian crisis.”Spoken like a true princess.[video_embed id='5987207876001']RELATED: Camila Cabello reveals the trick to her famous hairstyle[/video_embed]
