It appears that former TV star Scott Baio won't be reprising his Happy Days role for the planned upcoming reunion — but he's not letting go of his most famous character without a (social media) fight. The actor, who played Fonzie’s (Henry Winkler) cousin Chachi on the long-running series, is a staunch supporter of Donald Trump, and therefore won’t be participating in a reunion orchestrated to raise funds for the Wisconsin arm of the Democratic Party. When news of the reunion first broke, Baio made it clear how he felt about using the classic sitcom in an effort to defeat Trump. Yeah, sounds like Scott has other things to do that day. Instead of using the original Chachi, the cast will consider recruiting a sub — and they’ve already had one notable volunteer. Enter: Full House’s Uncle Jesse (aka John Stamos).Stamos raised his hand to cover the role after Ron Howard (now a famous movie director, then Milwaukee’s own Richie Cunningham) announced the reunion event. Baio didn't love the idea. He also later weighed in with this witty retort: “Shouldn’t he be taking care of Aunt Becky?” (Uh, does Baio think that Stamos is legally responsible for his one-time TV wife Lori Laughlin and her college admissions scandal conviction?) One follower used Baio’s Twitter tantrum as an opportunity to point out how the actor himself allegedly treated his former co-stars. In 2018, Baio’s Charles In Charge castmate Nicole Eggert accused him of molesting her when she was just 14 years old (an accusation that Baio denies). As for the reunion, it takes place Sunday, October 25 at 6 p.m., and fans can join in for as little as a $1 donation to see Howard, Don Most (Ralph Malph), Anson Williams (Potsie Weber), Marion Ross (Marion Cunningham), writer Lowell Ganz, maybe Stamos, and definitely The Fonz. “We’re thrilled a show made famous in Milwaukee is coming back home to help make Donald Trump a one-term President,” Ben Wikler, Chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, said in a release. “We know all roads to the White House go through the Badger State, and with the cast of Happy Days helping us raise money to take back the White House, we believe even more we can deliver a victory on November 3rd.”[video_embed id='2052789']RELATED: Here's your first look at the 'West Wing' reunion special[/video_embed]
