'Schitt's Creek' fans are freaking out over the fact Catherine O'Hara was in 'Home Alone' and 'Beetlejuice'

Comedy greatness, you see, isn’t created in a vacuum, and so logic dictates that Moira Rose had to come from somewhere. She did. It’s called Canada. And longtime fans (dating all the way back to O’Hara’s SCTV days — Google it) are piping up on social media to set the comedy legend’s illustrious record straight. She’s been acting for far longer than six years.

Not only was O’Hara in the holiday hit that is probably cued up on your streaming service for its annual December viewing right about now, she also had a substantial and unforgettable part in Beetlejuice (stream now on Crave). She also voiced Sally in The Nightmare Before Christmas and was in BOTH film and TV adaptations of the Series of Unfortunate Events books (as different characters! The range!). She stole the show (and appeared with Eugene Levy pre-Roses) in Best In Show (stream now on Crave) and also voiced the villain in Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses (hey, Martin Short also voiced a villain in a Barbie movie). Long story, short: O’Hara has been a beloved working actor since the ‘70s and is impeccable.
Of course, if anyone would be amused by the O’Hara discourse, it would be Catherine herself who, as even her youngest fans know, has a wicked sense of humour. After all, it was this moment from O'Hara herself hitting TikTok that sparked the entire cultural realization in the first place.
Since we’re on the topic, let us blow your minds a bit more: Catherine O’Hara’s sister Mary Margaret is a brilliant musician who’s recorded with Morrissey, performed with R.E.M., and acted in a rock opera by Tom Waits. There’s definitely something in that genetic pool.
