Ryan Reynolds steps back from movies in order to be a present dad

Deadpool superhero and Canadian icon Ryan Reynolds loves to branch out. He's helmed a few successful enterprises like Aviation Gin, Mint Mobile, Wrexham FC (yes, really), and Maximum Effort. But it looks like the man is expanding his repertoire into uncharted territories—being a stay-at-home poppa.
Normally, a man of Ryan's stature could command an entire auditorium to make this announcement. He could break the internet by posting on his wildly popular Twitter account or even on his YouTube channel where he regularly posts wacky videos. But no, this time the star of Red Notice decided to make the announcement on... *checks notes* LinkedIn?
Yes, that's right, we bet you're now regretting if you slept on the job board and networking platform that is LinkedIn, because Ryan Reynolds has a profile there. At least, now he does. And he did an exclusive interview with LinkedIn News Senior Editor at large Jessi Hempel to reveal why you won't see him in Two Guys, A Girl, And A Pizza Place: The Sequel any time soon.
"Well, I've done a lot of [acting]," he said, answering everyone's question of "why?"
"The biggest thing for me," he clarified, "is that I don't want to miss this time with my kids as well." Ryan has three kids with wife and fellow actor Blake Lively: James, Inez and Betty.
"When I'm shooting a film, I'm oftentimes in Europe, I'm away, there are incredibly long hours, it's a ton of constant, kind of requirement to be there the whole time—not just because I'm performing but I'm also generally producing and writing on my movies as well," he continued.
"They tend to chew and blow bubbles with every aspect of my life when I'm shooting a film," he added. "So allowing myself to step away right away, it's sort of the perfect time."
Later in the interview, he added, "I really enjoy being a present dad. I love taking them to school in the morning, I love picking them up."
We love this for him and Blake, but also, is anyone else really loving his use of LinkedIn? His profile is full of interesting anecdotes, including the fact that he used to work as a forklift driver at a Safeway in Vancouver back in the '90s, something a fan had to get clarification on.
Highlighting the CV bullet that lists his 5-month stint from '96 to '97, the fan tweeted at Ryan, to which The Proposal star replied, tongue firmly in cheek, "No. It was actually 1995 to 1996." The error has since been adjusted on his profile. So he's a quick fixer too! While his profile also lists that he's on sabbatical, he still has a lot of fun with his employment history.
"My skills include writing, re-writing, tweeting, mixing cocktails, backend engineering for software platforms and watching lower-tier Welsh football matches," he writes in the About section. "Proficiency ranges from excellent to absolutely awful."
Speaking of "from excellent to absolutely awful," Ryan has posted a series of wacky videos to his YouTube where Maximum Effort has collaborated with Jimmy Kimmel, Disney, and ABC's Live In Front of a Studio Audience primetime special to refashion and reimagine classic '80s commercials and turn them into... okay we're not quite sure, but here's a taste (starring Alfonso Ribeiro, who does a great job contrasting the old Oscar Mayer wiener commercials with Brooke Shields' infamous Calvin Klein jean ads).
That's our Vancity boy.
