Becoming a septuagenarian hasn’t slowed Richard Gere down one little bit. All signs indicate that Hollywood’s silver fox continues to belt out songs on the piano, hang out with his bride of two years, Alejandra Silva, and adjust to life with a new baby. Scratch that—Gere is actually adjusting to life with two babies. He and Silva have announced that, just 14 months after giving birth to their son Alexander, they welcomed another baby boy to their fold.According to Hola! the pair gave birth to their latest bundle of joy while at their ranch in New York state on April 23, and both mama and baby are doing well. The publication reports that the couple wanted to give birth at home where they could have total privacy, although it didn’t confirm the name of the new babe. This is the fourth child for the blended family; Gere shares a 20-year-old son named Homer with ex-wife Carey Lowell, and Silva has a seven-year-old son named Albert from a previous marriage.

News of the pregnancy broke last November, nine months after Alexander’s birth. This time around the birth announcement was a little less pomp and circumstance though. Because let’s face it: how do you top an OG birth announcement that involved the Dalai Lama? “A very special moment just a few minutes ago... Getting blessings for our precious to come.. we couldn’t say it before telling HH Dalai Lama,” Silva captioned a photo of her, Gere and the spiritual leader to announce their first babe in an Instagram post that’s since been deleted. (Silva replaced it with a baby bump pic instead.)

Gere has definitely taken a step back from the Hollywood life to focus more on his spirituality and family in recent years. It’s a drastic change from the good old days when he pumped out film after film, and anything he and Julia Roberts starred in together was basically guaranteed to break the box office (hands up if you’re plotting out a double feature of Pretty Woman and Runaway Bride this weekend). In fact, the last thing he’s credited for is the BBC miniseries MotherFatherSon, in which he played the icy but charming mogul Max Finch. Other than that, the actor has taken only a few big screen roles as he continues to spend time with his new family. The 70-year-old married Silva—a publicist and activist—in a secret civil ceremony back in early 2018, and their nuptials weren’t reported until weeks later. “They’re so comfortable with each other, have fun together and are looking forward to their future together,” a source told People at the time. It’s the third marriage for Gere, who was previously married to Cindy Crawford from 1991-1995, and Lowell from 2002-2016.
It turns out the third time may really be the charm after all. Gere and Silva knew each other for over a decade before they got married and had been dating since 2014. Now, Gere seems to be living his best life. A source confirmed to People that Gere “has been much happier in this half of his life because he is settled, confident and doing what he likes.” Let's hope we can all feel that good in our seventies.
