Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just used their annual holiday tradition of releasing a Christmas card to give fans of the famous couple a sneak peek at their growing son. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have kept young Archie mostly out of the spotlight this year, but by sharing their 2020 holiday card, we now know that the young royal is a redhead like his father. Stock up on sunscreen and get ready for lots of compliments (and Jughead jokes), little Archie.

The latest holiday card of the family of three is a creative take on the traditional family photo that royals share this time of year. Harry and Meghan opted to get creative and use an illustration of a photo taken by Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, in the family’s backyard in their new home in Montecito, California. The image shows Harry and Meghan playing with 19-month-old Archie while their doting dogs Pula and Guy keep watch in front of Archie’s backyard playhouse. According to a statement released by the Duke and Duchess, the image depicts a small Christmas tree decorated with ornaments, some handmade, that were selected by Archie. The tree will be replanted after Christmas.

The couple’s latest holiday picture is a clever way to provide a personal card that shows the family looking natural and relaxed with each other without giving away too many details of their young son. Considering one of the reasons Meghan and Harry left royal life and relocated to the US was to provide an upbringing out of the public eye for Archie, this is a smart way to go about it.

The philanthropic couple shared their Christmas card on December 23 through Mayhew, a patronage of Markle’s in the UK and one of the organizations the couple chose to donate to during the holiday season. The animal welfare organization helps to care for dogs, cats and other animals in need and has been operating since the late 1800s. According to the Mayhew website, Markle made a personal donation on behalf of her family to help animals in the U.K. and also donated to several other deserving causes.

“This year we, as a family, have made donations to several charities with you in mind,” wrote Markle inside the family Christmas card according to a message Mayhew shared on their site. “From a local California organisation that helps families transition out of homelessness, to two of our U.K. patronages: one that supports animal and community welfare, and the other, a memorial fund for a cherished friend that helps to educate children and fight poverty in Uganda, we have honoured their work on behalf of all of us.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been getting in the Christmas spirit and earlier this month were spotted at a Christmas tree farm in California. According to People, the pair opted to go during a slow time instead of asking the lot to close down while they shopped. A worker at the tree farm told the magazine that there was only one other family shopping at the time and the family’s young boy mistook Prince Harry for one of the tree farm workers. This child is very behind in his royal news.

Harry and Meghan will likely be celebrating the holidays in their new home in Montecito along with their son Archie and Markle’s mother before embarking on what will be a busy 2021 for the couple. Not only have they signed a massive deal with Netflix to help produce original content, but the couple also recently announced a podcast on Spotify, answering the question, "Does literally everyone have a podcast?’ Yes. And we listen to all of them.
