Most celebs can’t even get a pedicure at a nail salon without it going out on the AP wire, but somehow, Mindy Kaling managed to pull off the impossible. She has kept the news of her pregnancy and the birth of her new baby boy under wraps all year! Granted, we have been rather occupied with a couple other things this year (hello understatement!), but still, just like her pregnancy with her first child Katherine (AKA Kit), Mindy is the queen of keeping things hush-hush.“I'm telling it for the first time now, it feels so strange. But I gave birth to a baby boy on September 3,” Kaling told Stephen Colbert Thursday night on The Late Show. Hmm, a September 3rd baby means that the bouncing bambino has been a secret for the entirety of 2020 (do the math, fam).
“No one even knew you were pregnant!" Colbert exclaimed.“I know! I know! This is news to a lot of people," the Late Night and The Office star admitted. "It's true... His name is Spencer. I forgot the most important part of it!”Turns out, the media did in fact take paparazzi photos of Mindy during her pregnancy (at eight months, no less!) and none of them felt comfortable speculating on what they saw. “So they ran this photo of me and I look very pregnant,” she said of The Daily Mail who took snaps of her baby bump when she was shopping at a kid’s toy store for the new human she was carrying. “I think this is what’s funny—they were too nervous to claim that I was pregnant, that it was almost more insulting. They were like, oh yeah, Mindy Kaling just looks like this!” “I’m not gonna jump on that train,” Stephen replied. Smart move, Colbert. We feel ya.While we let you get used to the joyous news of her little bundle of joy, take comfort in the fact that even Mindy herself is having a hard time saying, “my son.”"Saying 'my son' feels very formal," she laughed, admitting that, "saying 'my daughter' feels contemporary and of-the-moment. But saying 'a son' feels so old-timey."Oh when will Mindy Kaling’s son come back from the war? Hmmm, yeah we kinda agree.
